Last year my friend and partner in crime Vane from Brklynbride and I threw a baby shower for one of our dear friends that loves pink. We only had 1 hour for set up at our venue, so everything had to be easy and quick to put together. The concept was pink, ombre, modern with a touch of nostalgia.
Invites were hand silk screened onto a glassine sleeve, which held pink colored confetti from knot and bow. It also held the insert for the baby registry.
The shower was held at the awesome Ici restaurant in Brooklyn. The second floor parlor has the best light.
We decorated the mirror with some tassels from paper fox la and added a white decal signage.
Vane cut these place cards on her cricut and used neon pink gauche to write out all the guests names.
Since we had such little time, almost everything had to be pre-made. Vane was in charge of all flowers and found the cutest little white vases to create a long row of ombre shades. She worked with flowermuse to create a modern arrangement that looked so chic and effortless.
I painted clear acrylic sheets with shades of pink and placed white decals cut from my silhouette cameo cutter. We also blew up baby photos at fedex/kinkos and had them mounted on white foam boards.
Vane had a great idea for a guest book – she bought a copy of Sharon Montroses’s Ménagerie book and had been saving it for something special — this was perfect for it! I added a fun bookmark so we could keep our spot.
We asked Ninecakes to do a pink confetti fondant cake that was pink velvet inside. It was placed on the cutest little rabbit cake stand from Imm living. Vane worked with Little Cat Design Co. to create a custom cake topper that matched our theme.
I made a custom rubber stamp on my silhouette cutter and stamped it with a hot pink color. I love that machine! It has endless possibilities.
To keep it short we had 2 activities. The first was baby bingo. We placed a numbered sticker on each of the gift boxes and each time the mama to be opened a gift she yelled out the number. It was a great way to keep everyone engaged and to multi-task the gift opening /activity all in one. The other activity was a card to fill out wishes for baby.
