When I first saw EllieFunDay‘s organic baby blankets, I thought they were adorable and lovely, but when I heard about EllieFunDay’s mission, I was immediately drawn to the company. According to their story, “EllieFunDay is a social enterprise that designs organic baby blankets that empower marginalized women through dignified employment and a fair-wage.” While the blankets are designed here in the US, they are carefully handcrafted and made in India by marginalized women, who are also trained and cared for by EllieFunDay and its partners.
My children are a little too old for EllieFunDay’s original baby blankets, but their new Nomad Travel Blanket line features adorable blankets that are perfect for babies and older kids alike. I was thrilled to be able to review one of the travel blankets for Hellobee and let me tell you, our Lil’ Cowgirl was just as thrilled, too!
The Nomad Travel Blanket comes in three styles, each named after an explorer: Amelia the Bunny, Marco the Panda and Lewis the Raccoon. I chose Amelia the Bunny because Lil’ CG loves bunnies. Our new blanket arrived so adorably and whimsically packaged, it was *almost* hard to open it up.
Once we did, we found Amelia, all tucked into its large pocket/hood. One of the coolest features of the Nomad Travel Blanket is that it conveniently tucks into the pocket (it can double as a pillow!) and the loop at the top of the pocket allows it to be hooked onto a backpack, coat hook, or stroller. As you can see, little fingers couldn’t wait to grab it!
The blanket is incredibly soft and made of 100% organic cotton flannel. It’s just right for snuggling!
And/or wearing!
We’ve had a ridiculously long streak of rain here and we’ve been cooped up inside for days. Despite the rain, Lil’ CG has had lots of fun playing with her new Amelia blankie and it’s immediately become a staple and a favorite. After all, it has lots of versatile uses…
…like being Elsa’s cape, perfect for twirling while belting, “Let it Go”!
Or being the perfect picnic blanket for an indoor picnic/tea party with some of her favorite friends.
Most of all, it’s just the best for snuggling up with at night time.
We can’t wait to be able to take our new Nomad Travel Blanket with us on our trips this summer — it’ll be perfect for road trips and plane rides and overnight stays!
The Nomad Blankets are currently prototypes only and the company is launching an Indigogo campaign to begin full production of these blankets. I can’t wait to see these blankets in lots of other kiddos’ hands — they’re going to be so loved!
