I talked briefly about Mini PB&J in my introduction post a few weeks ago, but since I’m such a recent new addition the blogger team, I thought it might be fun to get you guys a little better acquainted with Mini PB&J and do a 27-month update!
M I N I P B & J
Age: 27 months
Height/Weight: 33in. tall and 28lbs.
Eating: Mini PB&J’s current favorite foods are probably fruits and vegetables, especially raw or fresh. I know that might sound too good to be true, but I promise I’m not lying. When thinking about her diet and what I can usually get her to eat the most of, it’s cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, and peas. She likes most fruits, but her top picks are blueberries, grapes, apples, pineapple, and strawberries. Some other things she loves are cheese sticks, crackers, black beans, ham, and sausage. Things she doesn’t care for at the moment are potatoes, eggs, bread, pasta, and pretty much anything that’s squishy or has a weird texture! Mini PB&J seems to have some sensory issues with food (and non-food items) so eating has been a bit of a struggle since about 11-12 months. I wrote a separate post on that already!
Sleeping: Mini PB&J is (and has been) a great sleeper and I feel super lucky that she seems to have inherited her Daddy’s love of sleeping! Her bedtime is usually around 9pm but is sometimes earlier or later depending on what kind of day we had and how her nap was. She sleeps through the night in her toddler bed and normally doesn’t make a peep unless she has a bad dream. She still takes a nap every day starting at 12:30-1pm for at least 2 hours, sometimes 3 if she’s had a hard morning of playing!
Playing: Her favorite toy(s) of the moment are her baby doll Jenna, play kitchen/food, and her Lego Duplos. She loves to play pretend with Jenna and cook her food, push her in the stroller, and put her to bed. It’s literally the cutest thing ever to watch! She also loves to do puzzles, blow bubbles, color with sidewalk chalk, and read books. Boy, does she love to read books! It doesn’t really matter if I read them to her or she just looks at them by herself, books are one of her favorite things. Curious George has been an obsession lately, and I think I’ve read all that we own at least 20 times! This is such a fun age for play because she is so talkative and imaginative. I love playing pretend with her, and I wish I had more hours in the day to do so, but on the other hand, it’s so precious to watch her play on her own. I love listening to her chatter away to herself and have conversations with her doll. So sweet and innocent…just warms my heart.
Mastered/ Working On: Mini PB&J has mastered counting to 12, saying her ABC’s, identifying colors, and potty training. Some things we are currently working on are simple dressing and undressing, mostly panties and pants on/off, shoes on/off, snipping with scissors, matching and sorting, and riding a trike!
Current Parenting Struggle: Attempting to limit the amount of television and screen time she has. Mini PB&J has really developed a love for Mickey Mouse and Paw Patrol lately and is constantly asking to watch it on TV or the iPad. I’m pretty sure she could just watch it all day long! Some days my resolve is stronger than others and it is just rough sometimes!
What I’m Loving: Everything about her! Ha! Seriously though, she amazes me every single day with what new word she has learned or what she can remember! I swear sometimes I think she has the memory of an elephant. I can now have near full conversations with her and she just understands so much! Since she turned 2, she has become quite the little helper and I love giving her small tasks to do/help out with. It’s so fun watching her learn new things and get so excited when she figures out how to do something by herself!
I can’t believe how she is literally turning into a little person right before my eyes! She has grown and matured so much in the last 6 months especially, and I’m starting to notice even more bits and pieces of my “baby” disappearing. It’s very bittersweet. I loved the newborn/infant stage, but this age is so nice too. My most favorite thing about 27 months old is when she wraps her arms around me and says, “Mommy I just love you so much!” …then I turn into a puddle and we go watch Mickey Mouse.
