Greetings Hellobee community! I am so excited to be joining this community as a blogger. I have been an avid Hellobee reader and follower since 2012 and am honored to be able to contribute my experiences to this welcoming community. I am a WOHM and my partner is a SAHD. I am passionate about helping students and that directly translates into the work that I do. I am originally from Illinois, and spent a little time in the Los Angeles area prior to moving to San Diego for college. After graduating I decided to stay in San Diego where I met my future partner and best friend, Mr. Cheesecake. We met here in 2006, got married here in 2010 and are now raising our kids here (since 2013)!
Family time at the Carlsbad Flower Fields.
We were determined to be Team Green during both pregnancies and I distinctly remember asking my partner if the baby was a boy or a girl after the nurses placed our first-born on my chest. I was so out of it I didn’t hear the doctor say it initially! Little did we know how much life would change after having our son, StarCakes. People warned us about the change, but we didn’t really, truly understand it until we were in the thick of it. StarCakes was, and honestly, still is a very active and energetic kid. He doesn’t shy away from attention and will tackle difficult playground structures with the ease of a monkey. He loves puzzles, is a great older brother to his baby sister and can be quite thoughtful and sweet…when he wants to be!
On New Year’s Eve 2014 we were blessed with our second baby, GemCakes. She was born at 35 weeks and 6 days and was whisked off to the NICU for breathing issues. After a trying 10-day stay in the NICU, GemCakes was able to come home with us and has been doing well ever since! She is a sweet and sassy toddler who loves to eat, sleep and hug stuffed animals.
StarCakes with GemCakes shortly after she came home from the hospital NICU in January 2015.
Lastly, why Mrs. Cheesecake? Ever since I was a child one of my favorite desserts to bake with my mom was cheesecake with cherry topping. Cheesecake was also the cake that my partner and I chose to serve at our wedding – blueberry cheesecake and pistachio cheesecake to be exact! With so many happy memories associated with cheesecake it is only fitting that I choose it to represent me and my family. Because my son is named after a constellation I will nickname him, StarCakes and since my daughter is named after a gem, she will be known as GemCakes.
I look forward to sharing more about my family, our travels and our life with two littles in sunny San Diego – until next time!

Welcome!!
Your story of your daughters birth really resonated with me as I am 35+6 today! I can’t imagine those 10 days in the NICU were easy.
Also – cherry cheesecake was my favourite dessert growing up! Solid choice
