Over the past few months, I’ve had several baby showers to attend; it seems like everyone is having a baby! I always feel a little stumped as to what kind of gift I should give because I want it to be practical, thoughtful, memorable, and cute all at the same time. The process is a little easier now that I have a child of my own and I’m able to think about what my favorite gifts were or what I would have liked to receive. So I’ve made a list of some baby shower gifts that I’ve given, received, and have on my list to give in the future. They are all thoughtful, practical, and super cute!
Milestone Muslin Blanket – Since taking monthly pictures has really become so popular over the last few years, I think this is a great gift. My sister-in-law actually purchased some adorable princess month stickers for me and I loved them! There is always so much going on in the first weeks/months of a new baby, it’s really convenient to already have something on hand to document milestones. There are so many cute and affordable options on Amazon and Etsy. This chalkboard printable documents weight, height, teeth and developmental milestones. If you’re super crafty you could also DIY these items and it would be even more special!
Baby first aid kit/medicine box – This was one of my favorite gifts that I received at my baby shower. It’s so practical and thoughtful at the same time. I didn’t think of purchasing some of the items that my friend included in the box like gas drops, baby Tylenol and Motrin, or saline spray when I was pregnant, but it was so helpful to have them already on hand when I needed them. No running to the store at the last minute or late at night when a fever hits, teething happens, or tummy troubles happen. If you know the Mommy-to-be really well you can customize this to some of her favorite brands or products. You can also make this pretty by using a cute box or basket and do a little decorating!
DIY Growth Chart – This does require a little diy-ing, but it’s not hard at all! I love this because it’s something they can use for a long time. It serves a purpose, but it’s still thoughtful and cute and definitely memorable! What really caught my eye though is the fact that this is portable. So many people (including Mr. Pbj’s family) chart growth on a door frame or wall and then if the family moves or needs to paint over it, all those special memories are gone. This way, it can be moved from house to house, or even around the room, and still be an adorable decor piece! Mrs. Garland’s DIY Growth Chart is above and I ended up making this for my sister-in-law and I LOVE it! I’m tempted to make one for Mini Pbj now!
Memory Jar – I love the sentimental factor behind this idea and I wish I would have received this as a gift at my baby shower! I think it’s such pretty way to keep and display some of those memories from when your baby is first born. I haven’t given this, but it is on my list of things to give for future baby showers. I would fill my jar with either some special pampering treats for the mother-to-be or some small items for baby, and then also include a card about what the jar is to be used for after the baby is born. Things like hospital bracelets, footprints, newborn hat, coming home outfit, first family photo at the hospital, name card, first pacifier or bottle, etc. can be included. This is a sweet idea because even though moms love to save things, they don’t always think about what they’re going to do with them/how to store them. With this gift, you’ve already done the thinking for them, and they have a special jar to display in the nursery and fill at their leisure!
Clothing Organizers – Although I did DIY some clothing organizers for Mini Pbj’s closet, I would have loved to receive these as a gift! There are usually a lot of adorable outfits given at showers…or you’re like me, and can’t stop buying baby clothes. These would be a great gift to include with a cute outfit. There are so many ways on Pinterest to DIY them, but Etsy also has a ton of cute and affordable options as well.
Diaper Cake/Diaper Bouquet – I have been so in love with these recently! I think they are such a fun way to give diapers because they really aren’t the most exciting thing. I loved getting packages of diapers, but they aren’t that eye-catching. Diaper cakes can be as simple or as ornate as you want, and they really aren’t that hard to make! I’ve made several for some girlfriends and they have always been something that stands out among the rest of the gifts. You can attach practical baby items or pretty decorative items to coordinate with the shower or nursery theme. I also recently made a diaper bouquet, which was even easier than the cake, and I love the way it turned out!
. . . . .
What was your favorite gift that you received at your baby shower? Do you have a particular item you love giving as a gift?

The best gifts we received were the handmade blankets. They are so beautiful and meaningful. On one hand I like the idea of milestone blankets as a gift, but for me, I am personally glad I didn’t get one because we have our monthly photos figured out already and I’d feel bad/guilty when I didn’t use their gift.
That first aid kit would be SO handy!

I love how the first aid kit is in that caboodles-sequence box and labeled! I want to make one for our family!

I hated the diaper cake when I had my little one. They are cute at the shower, but a pain to store afterwards. Not as cute, but just a pack of diapers works just as well and they’re easier to store. I like the milestone blanket. Anything to make it easier!

Gifts never means big budget. It is something related to heart and feelings. If you can put it all, then definitely the outcome will be best. it is rally Very nicely done and well presented. Completely inspiring for anyone, who wishes to implement a DIY project for gift ideas
