Growing up, Christmas was full of traditions. There were things that we could count on, regardless of where we were or who we were with. One of these traditions was reading ‘The Night Before Christmas’. Another was having tourtiere and Christmas pudding for dinner after our church service. But the most memorable tradition was getting to open one present from Mom & Dad right before bed on Christmas Eve. And without fail, that present would be a new pair of pyjamas.
I love pyjamas. Even though I’m more likely to put on leggings and a hoodie when I get home from work, there’s just something exciting about a matching set of cozy warm PJs to snuggle up in. And, when you know that you’re going to be in a million photos on Christmas morning, even if you’ve got on no makeup and have wicked bedhead, at least you’ve got new PJs to make you feel awesome.
For the last 3 years, I’ve picked out special Christmas pyjamas for my kids. Since they’re so little, we haven’t gotten into the ‘present opening before bed’ tradition, but there is the excitement of warm and cozy new pyjamas to wear on Christmas Eve. Last year, I had big dreams of finding a matching set of (affordable) jammies for Little Oats and Baby Oats, but finding something reasonable in 3-6m and 3T was pretty challenging. This year, thankfully, my options were much greater, seeing as we’re looking for sizes 2T and 4/5T. Here’s a roundup of some of the best matching (or coordinating) sibling pyjama sets out there.
Carters: penguins, penguins 2, Santa boy, Santa girl, buffalo plaid, milk & cookies
Old Navy: melted snowman, melted snowman pink, penguin red unisex, fair isle blue, fair isle red
Joe Fresh: plaid fleece boy, plaid fleece red, Big Kid plaid fleece, fair isle blue, fair isle red, fair isle baby
Hanna Andersson: Gnome Sweet Gnome, Very Merry Mix, Star Wars , Hanna Red

FYI, Hanna Andersson has a sale the weekend before Christmas and all their jammies will be $18 (or they have the past few years). You’re not going to have a full selection if you’re looking for specific sizes but I’ve been able to outfit all of my kids in matching jammies for much less. My new go-to is Primary. They sell plain basics and their jammies are so soft. If you are into decorating shirts yourself (I’m a little obsessed) you can have whatever design you want on all of your LOs!
