I don’t know about all of you, but stockings are probably one of my most favorite things about gift giving at Christmas. My parents always did great things in our stockings, and they continue to even with all of us being adults now. I’ve been planning my stocking stuffers for months now, and I have a few easy and fun suggestions below:
1) Toothbrushes: I just read an article about how important it is for kids to brush their teeth for two minutes each time. The article mentioned toothbrushes that flash for two minutes, and when they turn off, the time it up. I found these on Amazon, and as a bonus, they came in a two pack. Score!
2) Bubbles: I feel like most kids love bubbles; I know my kids do. These are easy, fun, plus they are usually really cheap. Perfect for stockings.
3) Hotwheels/Matchbox Cars: Both of my kids love matchbox or hotwheels. They are pretty cheap and small so they fit well. One disclaimer though, they do have small parts, so if you have younger kids playing with them, they need to be closely monitored.
4) Bubble Bath: LeLe and Little Bug love bubble baths, and bubble bath is cheap, easy, and they get excited about getting it in their stockings.
5) Hair Ties: I always had really long hair and hair ties disappeared quickly so I almost always got a variety of ties in my stocking. I’ve continued this with LeLe.
6) Sidewalk Chalk: Sidewalk chalk saves me on a lot of days. I have a chalkboard wall in the house and my kids draw for hours on the bottom half.
7) Granola bars: If your child(ren) don’t have any nut allergies, these are a great alternative to candy. LeLe loves granola bars and thinks that they are candy bars.
8) Mittens: We generally don’t get too much snow here, but it does get pretty chilly and wet, so having mittens for winter walks is a must.
9) Fruit Snacks: Not all parents like giving candy, so fruit snacks are a good alternative. My kids love them as a treat, and for Christmas, this means we can avoid giving them a bunch of candy.
10) Play Doh: This is another cheap and easy stuffer, plus it fills hours at home on rainy days.
11) Holiday Socks: All kids need socks, and I know LeLe and Little Bug love wearing seasonal socks.
12) Water Bottle: Both kids use their water bottles all the time, so it’s nice to have new ones in the rotation. Plus, they get crazy excited for new ones.
13) Bath Crayons: The kids love these for bath time and they are easy to clean up. It’s a win-win.
14) Bath Toys: My kids love these squirting bath toys. These are great for stockings because you can get quite a few in a package, then split them up between your kids.
15) Glow in the Dark Stars: These are super cool, and they facilitate learning too. Both kids love anything that glows in the dark, so these will be a hit!

I love the idea of granola bars or fruit snacks in stockings! Such a simple idea, but one I hadn’t thought of myself.

Great ideas thanks! I am going to see if I can find those toothbrushes at Target.
DS1 is obsessed with fruit snacks – I think he will love getting them in his stocking.
