I’m not much of a resolutions girl. I love setting goals and working towards them, but the pressure of a resolution is too much for me. I hate feeling like I could fail at something, so rather than set a list of resolutions, I like to have some broad goals for the upcoming year.
1) Do room by room updates on our house. We just bought this house and the interior is slightly dated. I’ve painted, and re wallpapered some areas, but I have a running list of each room and what I would like to do in each room. I love having this list and I am having so much fun doing the little updates. These mini goals are easy to achieve and I can tackle them one at a time over a weekend without feeling stressed about getting everything done all at once.
2) Ride bikes with Mr. Cereal again. We used to go on small bike rides all the time but with the kids and the move and all the other life things, we just haven’t had time. Mr. Cereal has promised me that we will upgrade my bike for my birthday this year, and we just got a trailer for his bike that will fit both kids, so we can do family rides for some fun and exercise. I am really looking forward to this.
3) Refine my diet. I do not in any way mean diet as in eat carefully to lose weight. Instead, I want to try to figure out how to stretch the diet I am already on. I do the low fodmap diet because of my gastro issues, and the change has been remarkable. I feel a lot better than I did in the past, but I still feel super unsure about what to eat and what to avoid. I want to spend some time experimenting and finding new options for meals and snacks for me. I will probably be on this diet for the rest of my life, so figuring out a variety is pretty important to me.
4) Take more pictures. I take a ton of photos on my phone, but the quality is sometimes pretty questionable. I have a nice, but cheap, camera that I forget to use all the time. It actually takes mini videos on one of the settings and makes these magical clip by clip videos that I love. I just need to remember to take that camera out when I am documenting our lives a little more.
6) Bake more. Honestly, I love baking so much and I just never make it a priority. I think I would like to bake something at least once a week, and this also means that I can experiment with some gluten free options as well. LeLe and Little Bug are getting really into baking a cooking, so they can be involved too. I’ve already started having LeLe help me pick out things to try from Pinterest, so I think this could be a really fun thing for us to do together.
7) Go to our beach house. My family has a huge house on the Oregon coast that we all share. There are a lot of us, so you have to “reserve” weekends in advance and last summer the house went through some major renovations so it was largely unusable. The house is all finished now and it has been over a year since I have been there. I can’t wait to go over and use it more, especially now that the kids are old enough to enjoy it there.
8) Live Life. This is a silly one, but it is so important. I feel like I am finally hitting my stride, both in parenting and in life in general. I am starting to feel like I am getting back to a normal stage and I am happy. I am really enjoying the kids, and my work, and my schooling right now. I want to try to find as many moments as I can over the next year to remind myself how lucky I am. I know this is cheesy, but it really does help me to try to take the time to really appreciate my life and my kids.
. . . . .
What do you want for 2017? Any goals, resolutions, decisions?

This is a great list! One of mine in a similar vein is to use the library more. Everytime we go I wonder why we don’t go more often so this is the year of the library.
