Valentine’s Day is slowing approaching and I am looking forward to doing some crafts with my little ones. GemCakes isĀ getting more interested in painting and coloring and StarCakes is starting to show interest in writing and cutting. So what better way to cater to their budding interests than a few arts and crafts projects for littles! Here are some arts and crafts ideas that I am considering doing with my soon-to-be 4-year-old and newly-turned 2-year-old.
Paper Plate Heart Sewing: I think this craft would be great for StarCakes to practice his fine motor stringing skills. Plus we have a lot of excess yarn from my knitting and crocheting days!
Thumbprint Love Bugs: GemCakes loves to get her artsy hands dirty so I think she would enjoy making the thumbprints for these cute little bugs.
Hand-print Flamingo: This would be a great art piece to hang in their room afterward.
Heart Suncatcher: I like that this is easy to make and doesn’t require a lot of preparation. I’m sure the kids will like seeing their artwork in the window after too.
Cupid’s Arrow Toss: I think StarCakes would love playing this game as he is getting better at aiming and throwing balls around the house!
Heart Shake Painting: This might get a little messy, but I think the kids will enjoy shaking the container to paint the hearts. I might add in a couple other shapes to make it more interesting.
Heart Stamps: GemCakes loves playing with stamps so this will be a hit with her. I also like that we are re-purposing a toilet paper roll for the project.
Heart Tote Bag: This craft is more for me than for them. I know they will enjoy decorating the bag, but I will enjoy using the bag after!
Pokemon Hand-print: StarCakes loves playing PokemonGo and would definitely love to make his own Pikachu Pokemon!
Coffee Filter Heart: StarCakes will be excited to experiment with lots of different color combinations here.
Valentine’s Salt Dough: This can be used for both a necklace, a garland and a magnet! I think I would have the kids paint the hearts after they’re baked for extra color.
Yarn Hearts: Love how these hearts can be hung up after they’re done. I can see us doing this for other holidays too.
Noodle Necklace: Another necklace I would love to make with the kids and have them give them to their grandmas.
Paper Strip Heart Card: StarCakes is starting to use his scissors independently, so this project would be great practice for him.
Do you plan on doing any arts and crafts with your little ones to celebrate Valentine’s day?
