twenty eight weeks

28 weeks with baby #2!

How many weeks along are you? 28

Due date? September 27

How much weight have you gained? 24 pounds

Symptoms? fatigue; heartburn (ugh, welcome to the third trimester); general soreness

How is baby looking? Baby is the size of a large eggplant. We haven’t gotten to see him since the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, but we will have another ultrasound next month. I have been feeling his movements a lot more lately, which is so exciting. He seems to be a bit more active than his older brother, but not super kicky or anything.

How is Little Cotton Candy adjusting? He is doing better. We had a rough month or two where his behavior was starting to change, but it seems that (fingers crossed) we have turned a corner. Extra attention and reassurances seem to be helping, as well as in general just trying to be more patient with him. He also had a month at home with me coinciding with his break from school, which I think was really good for him. We traveled to Colorado during this time to visit family, and it was a great trip.

How is Mr. Cotton Candy adjusting? He’s doing great. After receiving his promotion at work, his boss announced his retirement, so it has been a whirlwind of learning new skills and feeling overwhelmed over the past couple months, but things seem to be finally settling down. Mr. Cotton Candy is definitely looking forward to taking a few weeks off work this fall once baby gets here!

How much planning have you done? Eh, not that much. We still haven’t sold our house, and actually had to temporarily take it off the market due to some unforeseen circumstances, so we’re kind of living in limbo. I have received even more hand-me-downs from my sweet sister-in-law, and I’ve made a total of three baby purchases (dresser/changing table, coming home from the hospital outfit, backpack for me to use as a diaper bag). I do feel like we’re narrowing in on a name we like, so that is exciting.

What does the nursery look like? LOL. We don’t even know if we’re staying in our house or moving before baby arrives, so a nursery is not in the cards for us.

What are you missing the most? Regular clothes. Sour beer.

What’s the most exciting thing about this stage? Feeling baby move and starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t wait to meet him!
