Now that summer is in full swing, the Ice Cream family has been taking full advantage of the pool/water activities. We enrolled Max in Aqua Tots swim school a few months ago, and although it was rough the first few weeks, he is so much more comfortable in the water. Here are five things I’ve been loving!
At 7 months, Zoe has entered the stage where she puts everything in her mouth! That combined with no sense of impending danger, means we are constantly scanning her surroundings for small objects/toy cars, or anything that she can break or eat. So my mother in law couldn’t have picked a better time to send us these indestructible books! And trust me, they are truly indestructible! Mr. Ice Cream and I spent a good 30 minutes trying to rip the book apart until we realized how ridiculous our efforts were. These books are not only impossible (we have yet to intentionally destroy them) to rip, but they can be washed in the washing machine! That is a winning combo for a baby who likes to chew everything then rub it on the ground and chew it again.
We started taking Max to these after he turned 3 and they are fantastic. If you don’t know about them, they are a free workshop that Home Depot offers for kids on the first Saturday of every month. The workshop suits a wide range of ages as it is up to the parent how much hammering to allow. At three, not much hammering was allowed, but not no hammering.
3/ Rachio
Rachio is a smart home sprinkler system that factors in sun exposure, soil and plant types, and local forecasts when watering your lawn. It automatically turns off or adjusts how much water your lawn gets. Such a simple idea, yet how many times do you see the sprinklers running on your neighbors lawn when it’s raining outside. Gallons of water are wasted by not factoring in weather. Sure you can manually adjust your sprinklers, but how many times do you actually do that. With all the rain we have been getting the past few weeks, I’ve been loving how much money this smart home gadget has been saving us.
These are such a comfortable and versatile shoe that uniquely works for men, women and kids (although I haven’t tried the kids shoe yet). I first got these for Mr. Ice Cream about a year ago. He is picky about shoes, so I’m basically always on the hunt for the perfect pair of everyday shoes for him. My search ended with these. They are simple but good looking, don’t look boring and utilitarian, and are comfortable and functional. They also work well dressed down and dressed up. Even though they are wool they are extremely breathable for summer and don’t feel hot at all. I just ordered this blush pair and I love them!
5/ 5 Calls.org
No matter your political affiliation, separating families is inhumane and unacceptable. There is no law that requires families to be torn apart, it’s a Trump Administration policy. If you are looking for ways to help, this app is an easy and non-intimidating way to call your representatives. Calling has a greater impact than emailing or posting on social media. I know calling can be intimidating, it was for me, luckily this app streamlines the whole process, even providing a calling script.
What are you loving right now?

1. Rotisserie chicken. Specifically Mojo flavor from Publix. LO and I were able to eat off of one for the entire week. Tonight, we will have shrimp scampi.
2. Leave in conditioner. This summer’s heat has resulted in me having to wear my natural as in curly. Man, the Shea Moisture brand conditioner tames my tresses.
3. 1st amendment. We all know why.
4. Dominos. When LO wanted to play a game I took the colorful Dominos set out and we played matching the colors and numbers of dots.
5. That I have been able to hold my child and know exactly where he is. Tonight we’ll snuggle up on the couch watch Ice Age and eat Outshine strawberry popsicles.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Love yours.
Those shoes look great!
I have been traveling a lot for work and these delicious and filling bars rocked (and they donate to charity!): https://www.amazon.com/Breakfast-Bar-This-Saves-Lives/dp/B0725K1QV1/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1529692166&sr=8-2&keywords=these+are+save+lives
Otherwise, I am going list spending the weekend with my wife and son as a favorite. We have nothing and everything planned: Dinner party with friends, a birthday dinner with family, the science museum, the train store, and a play date.
