With Christmas coming, I’m busy stalking my long list of Amazon books as they are always part of gift giving for my three kids. I check the upcoming book lists every few months and these are the latest ones I’m looking forward to:
Drake
Dragon Masters Treasure of the Gold Dragon – This is one of the first chapter book series Drake read, and one we both eagerly look forward to reading together. This one comes out the day after Christmas and I already pre-ordered it.
Narwhal’s Otter Friend – When Drake started to get more into chapter books, I came across the Narwhal series which were more like comics or graphic novels. I’m excited to try this fourth book in the series when it comes out.
Stick Dog Gets the Tacos – Drake found the Stick Dog series at his school library and has been checking out a book every two weeks. This is the newest one in the series.
Cuddly Creatures for Little Geniuses – I bought Drake Big Words for Little Geniuses for his birthday written by renowned author James Patterson of Alex Cross fame and his wife. Drake really liked the new words he picked up from it. Since he is already a huge animal encyclopedia, I’m sure this one will really delight him.
Juliet
Frozen Everyone Loves Olaf – Three years and her love for Frozen has not waned. I imagine we own every book out there, but of course a new one is coming and of course we must have it. The style makes me think of this other Frozen book we have and still read quite often.
Isle of You – Of all my children, Juliet is by far the most sensitive and emotional. She is a natural cuddlier and a true empath. I thought this book encapsulated what to do when your emotions become too large and overwhelm you in such a cute way by talking about finding your own place to settle in and dealing with them. The illustrations reminded me a lot of the movie Inside Out where each emotion had its own little land,as well as of this Dr Seuss book that I have loved since well before kids.
Little Owl’s Snow – I’ve been a fan of Divya Srinivasa’s owl series, which was a favorite of Drake’s a few years ago. I’ll probably rehome those older books into Juliet’s shelves soon since Drake has moved more into chapter books these days, and this would be nice to add to the collection while we are at it.
Mirabel’s Missing Valentines – The sweet illustrations of this book caught my eye and the little mouse in the story reminded me so much of Juliet who is shy, but also loves drawing pictures and making cards for those she loves. It might be a sweet book to share with her for Valentines.
Fiona
You Are My Magical Unicorn – I have so many of Joyce Wan’s books and always love her illustrations. Fiona is my last little one to still use board books and I know that time is ending soon, but how could I not get my little unicorn lover this one. It would fit perfectly among her many unicorn toys and books on her shelf already.
Ruby & Rufus – At long last the next goslings are on their way. I started collecting these books before Drake was born and have passed them down through each kid as the gaggle grew. I’m so excited to finally have a new one to add to the pile, and as luck would have it Fiona currently loves them all.
Follow My Heart – The Easter bunny put this Follow Me book in Fiona’s basket for Easter and it was a big hit with all the kids. This one looks fun and sweet connecting hearts and perfect for upcoming Valentine’s day.
Time for Bed Pete the Cat – Fiona has been learning about all kinds of new authors at preschool. Right now they are reading Pete the Cat and she can’t get enough of them. We have never owned any books in this series so this one looks like a great one to start with.

I love these book recommendations; especially chapter books. I already have a growing list of when my oldest is ready! I just added Isle of you and the maze one to Amazon list!
And I feel the same way about princess books in general. HOW. MANY. CAN. THERE. BE
We love Pete the Cat around here! The girls read them regularly at school and it’s something both my 4 and 2 year old are into!

Dragon Masters were a big hit here over the summer! Love the Branches series in general for kids who are over leveled readers but still a bit intimidated by books that are walls of words.
