St. Patricks Day is coming up, and I thought it would be fun to let the kids make a lucky rainbow necklace out of Fruit Loops cereal.  This is always a fun activity for the little ones, and it doesn’t hurt that they can practice their fine motor skills in the process!

You’ll need to gather a few supplies:

Fruit Loops Cereal
Gold Chocolate coins (found at most party stores or grocery stores)
Twine or Yarn
Glue Gun
Wire Trimmers
Bowls
Tape
Pipe Cleaners

Step One

Separate your cereal by colors into small bowls

Step Two

Prepare your twine by cutting a 24-30 inch piece and taping around the top of the twine so the fruit loops will thread on easier.

Step Three

Tie two knots at the end of the twine so the loops won’t slip off.

Step Four

Let your little one get their hands in there and thread the fruit loops onto the string. If they want to do it in the order of a rainbow it will be:  Red/Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple/Violet.

Step Five

Cut a small piece of pipe cleaner and fold it over to make a loop and use the glue gun to glue it to the back of the chocolate coin.

Step Six

Slip the coin onto the necklace in the center of the fruit loops.

Step Seven

Tie off the ends of the twine in a knot.

Your kids will love to show off the “Gold” at the end of the rainbow on their lucky necklaces!

This would also be a lot of fun to make for all their little friends and teachers!   Happy St. Patricks Day!
