We usually don’t update on weekends, but we have three lovely new bloggers to introduce so we wanted to do it right away! First up is the lovely Mrs. Cake!

Hello friends! I’m so excited to be blogging here at Hellobee. I have been an avid reader of the site for the last year and have sworn by so much of your advice and product recommendations. I’m so excited to share my own pearls of wisdom with all of you.

I met Mr. Cake when I was 18 at summer camp! Yup, summer camp. We kindled our romance as counselors over three consecutive summers. In the midst of it, we committed to a long distance cross-country relationship. It was not alway fun but we made it work. It might sound crazy, but I knew when I met him that he was “the one.” After college graduation, I moved to DC for law school just to be with him.  He promised that after our time in DC, he would follow me to Florida to live near my family.

In my last year of law school, he proposed. I had already known for six years that I was going to marry him. We moved to be near my family in South Florida and got hitched.
After being in Chicago and DC for college,/law school, I missed my family dearly. I also missed the South Florida sunshine. {I despise cold weather}. I’m the oldest of four and am very very closee with my parents and siblings. They have been such an integral part of my life and are the greatest aunts and uncles a mom could dream of.

Mr. C and I spent the first three years of our marriage doing lots of fun things. We traveled to Europe. We went to a million concerts. We bought a house. We “raised” our golden retriever, Ray. I was working as an attorney. From day one I was miserable. After two years, I was presented with an opportunity to purchase a small retail stationery business from a friend. I was hesitant to leave the legal field, but have always had a passion for creative arts and design. I took a giant leap and purchased and rebranded my own business.

My husband was a lot of my motivation. He started a sports travel business in college that grew into his current career in the ticket and sports industry. His encouragement helped me become an entrepreneur. I sell retail stationery and invitations and also blog about parties, design, fashion, beauty and DIY projects. My sister, a pastry chef, makes amazing desserts and cakes and also blogs with me. It is a really fun career and I have never felt I “worked” a single day of  my “job.”

After being married for two years, I started to think about children. As the oldest of four, I knew I wanted a big family. Just a few months later we found out we were pregnant…. with twins. It was shocking. We did not use any fertility treatments, and I was not in any of the particular categories that make a woman more prone to twins. Plus, we don’t have any twins in our family. Needless to say we were shocked. Oh, and thrilled of course.

R + M were born in March 2011 at 35 weeks. The first six months were a blur. I’m not sure I was actually conscious, despite being awake for a significant portion of that time. My husband and family were my absolute rocks. I was teary eyed when my “babies” turned two last month. The time has literally flown.

After about six months, I went back to work. Owning a business which operates by appointment has perks for motherhood. I was able to schedule appointments around customers and the kids. However, work infiltrates so many aspects of my life and my time. Unlike a typical 9 to 5 job, I am constantly working. It’s hard to give yourself “time off” when you are your own boss. Being a mom has always taken priority over my business, but the juggle is just that – an absolute juggle.

I’m hoping to share with you some of my experiences as a mom to boy/girl twins, as a mom to two year old toddlers, as a self-employed mom-prenuer, and as a design savvy, creative blogger. I am also a Jewish mother who tries her best to partake in traditions. I’m hoping to give you insight into wearing all of these hats.

I chose Mrs. Cake because I’m in the party business. Specifically paper goods and confections! It’s a crazy and delicious time, just like being a mom!

I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with you!

xoxo,
Mrs. Cake
