I know I know… it’s not fall yet. But literally everywhere you look, it’s blaring in our face that fall is upon us. Even weather is hinting at fall. Upon research about what I should do with my own (neglected) tresses, I stumbled down the rabbit hole of fall hair dos. So here’s a little early heads up/prediction of some of the hair you should probably wear come fall… I mean why not?
THE KNOT PONY – This is not new (I even mentioned it for girls’ summer hair). But it’s a great way to make an easy pony look less easy, and the lower down pony is very fall. image via because I’m addicted.
THE BLUNT BANG – Not new, and I don’t think it’s ever out of style. Fall is definitely the time to chop those bangs if you are one that always struggles with the philosophical “bangs or no bangs” question. image via sincerely, jules
THE DEEP SIDE PART PONY – It’s gonna be a hot one, the pumpkin spiced latte of fall hair if you so please. Heavier on the sleeker side than messy, it’s polished and oh so pretty. image via art symphony.
THE HIDDEN BRAID – I think this is a 2012 image, maybe even trend. This fall it’s sure to move from trend to popular, because of the playfulness and how cute it would look under a hat. image via the glamor vanity.
THE LOW KNOT – I heard whispers that the top knot will be replaced by the low knot. But I call (what’s a much nicer way to say it?) BS. I think the top knot will never leave us; it’s more of a functional thing than fashion for most. I think maybe they will just become good hair friends and alternate hang out days for fall. images via they all hate us & because I’m addicted.
THE LOW KNOT DEEP PART – Why not combine two trends? Also the bobby pins? Genius for those with shorter bangs or baby wisps. image via refinery 29.
THE POMPADOUR PONY – They say it might be back, but in a much more polished and less country music sorta way. It’s really a great way to wear a pony, and it adds enough interest that it might be doable for some (I am one that feels a regular pony just never works on myself). images via here & here.
THE POLISHED BEACH WAVES – Beach waves will never fade, but for Fall that more polished look is what’s in. Maybe more product and probably less hair drying? If you find out please let me know; waves and my hair aren’t good friends. image via they all hate us.
THE SIDE PONY – Polished or messy, messy gives it that effortless chicness – and looks like you meant it when you take your hat off. image via cup of jo.
THE DEEP SIDE PART – I’m not saying the middle part is out, but this fun chic polar opposite will be fun for fall. images via art symphony.
It’s really all about hair that looks ok before, during and after a hat, or with a big comfy scarf around your neck. Also the type of hair that might keep the nape of your neck a bit warmer and maybe even your ears. These are the styles that make the fall list.
Which one are you excited to try?

I totally agree with you that the top knot will never leave us. I have been digging the low knot but it doesn’t always look as good and the hair is still on my neck
I totally agree with you about the side part-I’ve been really into that lately.

This is fabulous, but there is one style missing–the one I do every day! It is called “get out of the shower and run your fingers through your hair and hope for the best”

@woodentulip: I think that one better belongs on the “greatest hairstyles of all time” list – even though I have yet to master it.

@kellyrae: Sometimes you just need it all up and away, and for that nothing beats the top knot.

All excellent. Too bad the baby hormones made me go crazy and CUT ALL MY HAIR OFF!! Now I have the worlds worse haircut. Note to self: get a stylist who will tell you “No!”.
