I am always jealous of all the subscription boxes that are available in the United States, so imagine my joy when I finally found one that was based in Canada: the Mommies First Box.
Mommies First boxes contain 4-5 personalized items, coupons, and information cards about the products which cover your pregnancy through your child’s first year. I love the information cards because they give me so much info without having to do extra research! There are a variety of ways to purchase these boxes, including special shower boxes. I decided on a 3 month subscription that would last me until Little Tea Cup turned one.
Here are the details on the 3 boxes I received:
M O N T H 1
1) Munchkin 36 Count Plug Covers – These are undoubtedly handy things to have. I like that the plug covers are the rounded kind to make them harder for little hands to grip.
2) A B C Busy Baby Book – My favourite item in the box and Lil’ Tea Cup’s too. We love books around here and this one is sturdy and colourful! Well done!
3) Cloud B Turtle Rattle – This is where I was a little confused. My daughter is almost 10 months old and this is something I would have given her months ago. However Lil’ Tea Cup likes to shake this little guy like a maraca and chew on his feet, so I guess it is a win in her book. One major problem though: this little guy is spot clean only! So hopefully this little guy will survive the washing machine because he will be heading there very soon most likely.
4) Munchkin Door Cushion – I am planning on giving the door cushion a try soon. We are not at the “playing with door” phase but I can see how this would come in handy.
5) Not shown in the photo above is a CD sampler of music. I honestly haven’t tried it, but the singer, Jack Grumsky, was a juno winner sot that is exciting!
6) Also included, was a coupon for $5 off of books from BookCloseOuts.com. We love books so this one was a win!

This box was names the “Healthy Habits” box.
Boogie Wipes Original Fresh Scent 30 Count Pack – I actually picked a package of these up last week when I saw them appear in photos from other mom’s MommiesFirst boxes. I wanted to give them a try with my little one because she had developed her first runny nose. They are so gentle that they kept Lil Tea Cup’s nose from getting red and irritated even though I was wiping it all the time. These are now on my must have list for the diaper bag!
Thera Wise VpR Natural Vaporizing Rub – After listening to my poor little girl sniff in her crib last night before falling asleep, I found myself wondering when you could use vapour rub on babies. Then this natural vapour rub arrived in my box and it is okay to use on the soles of the feet { with socks } and on the small of the back. I will give this a try soon and report back!
Mom’s Kisses Natural Arnica Spray for Kids– This is the product that made me decide to sign up for the MommiesFirst box in the first place! I was so intrigued by the idea of it and now we have some for our own to try! I think this spray, that is all natural and used for bumps and bruises, will get its own blog post in the near future.
Pampers Kandoo Brightfoam Hand Soap– I worry about what is in hand soap often, especially with Norah’s sensitive skin. This hand soap is made for little ones and I look forward to teaching her to use the pump at the sink like a big girl. Oh and it smells fantastic too!
Clean Well – Natural & Alcohol Free Hand Sanitizing Wipes – I actually was just about to run out of hand and face wipes for our diaper bag, so I was happy to see these tucked into this month’s box. So handy when we are out and about and not close to a washroom. I love that they are all natural and alcohol free as well.
Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Facial Lotion – Something for me? Oh you shouldn’t have! But seriously, I love that this month included a little something for Mom. We spend so much time as parents caring for our little ones, that we often neglect ourselves a little. It is nice to have a new product to try and I am in need of a new moisturizer as my skin has changed since I was pregnant, so this is a perfect time to try something out.
Thera Wise Crystal Animals Antibacterial Toothbrush– In the last month, Lil’ Tea Cup has gotten her first four teeth. A toothbrush couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! I love that no toothpaste is needed with it.
Month 3
The theme of this month’s box was “Birthday” and was stuffed full with products that we can use now and in the future.
ParentsCanada Magazine – I am a magazine junkie and I am always looking for new options. This magazine is full of fun ideas and tips and is worth a look for any parent of little ones.
EcoParent Magazine – As I said above, I love magazines and although I probably would not have picked this one up at first glance {although I try to be eco friendly, I find some eco ideas overwhelming}, but I love it! Lots of EASY and sensible ideas and I love all the sources they have for different eco products. Very helpful for anyone who uses cloth diapers and has trouble finding all the things on their wish list!
Penny Lane Organic Lavender Mist – I love this fresh and clean smelling misting spray and have already used to it on my pillow, in the diaper bag and on my wrists. All natural and safe for little ones too. A wonderful product!
OXO Tot Roll Up Bib – I love a gadget! This little bib has a great “moat,” as I have taken to calling it, for catching all those things that don’t quite make it into Lil Tea Cup’s mouth at mealtimes. It is machine washable and rolls up to go into the diaper bag – win, win, win!
Munchkin Snack Catcher – I put a few little baby crackers in this little snack catcher shortly after it arrived and immediately Lil’ Tea Cup went to town learning to use it. She loves to be independent so this was wonderful to allow her to serve herself and not make a huge mess! It was great for on the go as well!
Melissa & Doug Farm Animals Peg Puzzle – This puzzle is still a little old for Lil’ Tea Cup {she would prefer to chew it rather then to play with it} but I know Norah will really enjoy it when she is ready. Melissa & Doug toys are so sturdy and well made and I am so glad this was included in our box this month.
Pampers Kandoo Flushable Wipes – We are still a ways away from potty training but I am packing these away with the potty for future use. I like the idea of an easier and “cleaner” cleanup for little ones as they are learning.
The thing I like most about MommiesFirst is their incredibly good customer service. In each box they include a personalized note for you as a Mom and after I was not absolutely thrilled the first month, they contacted me by email to apologize and even included a little handwritten note about it in the my box this month. They really do care about what you think! If you are a mommy to be or a new mommy I would highly recommend these boxes!
Lil’ Tea Cup says the boxes are the best part!

Interesting! I haven’t found any subscription box companies I love yet, but seems like you’ve gotten a really good sampling o products! I’m definitely intrigued by the Vaporizing Rub and Mom’s Kisses spray. And, I’ve been searching for feeding bibs like that! The Baby Bjorn and TT ones with a “moat” like that seem stiff and not machine-washable. I’m going to order this OXO one now! How much is the subscription?

Any information on the costs and how it compares to other subscription boxes? Do you think you’ll continue with it?

I’m in Canada too and I signed up for Little Eco Footprint boxes. Little J (3 months) and I have really enjoyed them. There has been at least one item each month that has become a favourite!

Fellow Canadian here! You might also want to check out LittleEcoFootprint. They’re another Canadian-based subscription box. I got my first one this month and quite liked it

Those are some pretty cool items. I’ve never tried a monthly subscription box. I have been thinking of joining the honest company diaper bundled subscription but opted out because we still have so many boxes of gifted diapers to use. Your little girl is so cute! My little girl has that same outfit too.
