My amazing sisters threw me such a fun owl-inspired shower when I was pregnant with J. I was not only obsessed with owls, but planning to do the baby’s room with owl paraphernalia – the theme fit perfectly. I was 35 weeks at the time of the shower and feeling very ready to meet my baby. Because I was due at the end of February, the holiday season affected when we could have the shower.

My sisters planned the entire shower and other than the date, I knew nothing! It was very exciting. I had such a special time with family and friends and felt so blessed.

One of my favorite aspects of the shower was that my sisters used a book, Little Owl Lost, as the guestbook. We now have this very special book for J full of sweet messages from family and friends who attended our shower.

Favors for the guests were owl lunch bags full of popcorn

I couldn’t get over the cuteness of these adorable chocolate owl cupcakes. They were so cute and delicious. Each little owly detail was so sweet and full of love.

The menu was warm and hearty for a cold January day; homemade chicken wild rice soup with freshly baked bread, home brewed iced tea and sweet owl cupcakes. All the special touches created a cozy and memorable shower.

Of course my friends and family loved gifting me with owl things:

Neither my sisters or I are big fans of baby shower games, so we skipped the games and opted instead to mingle and spend time together. Although one thing that I did ask my sisters to incorporate somehow was a fun way to announce the baby’s name. Because we loved our name choice so much, we wanted to share it with our friends and family. My sisters created a guessing game for the name. On a banner hung about 12 letters and the guests were asked to choose their three top guesses using some or all of the letters. No one guessed the name! I then revealed it by unscrambling the letters.

Overall it was a special day that I remember so fondly and a wonderful way to welcome our baby!
