Being able to multitask in the kitchen is critical, especially when multitasking means holding your child on your hip as you prepare his/her meal. Miss H isn’t particularly clingy, but in the kitchen she always wants to be up high in someone’s arms so that she can watch. When there are two of us home, that’s no big deal – one of us does the food prep while she happily looks on from the other’s arms. But if one of us is home solo, this can be tough as Miss H will stand there hugging your legs while chanting “Watch, watch, watch.” While I investigate a stool/kitchen helper-type contraption for the kitchen to fully remedy the situation and allow Miss H full viewing access in the kitchen, in the meantime I’ve had to get creative.

Enter: the pizza cutter!

I realized the other day that I am constantly wielding the pizza cutter while making Miss H’s food. With just a few swipes I can cut favorites like quesadillas, toast, French toast, and pancakes all into easy bites for Miss H. And, even better, I don’t have to put her down to do it! While a knife generally requires a two-handed approach, the pizza cutter just slides along easily and is sharp enough to handle almost anything.

And, even better, I can cut everything into perfect identical pieces – an added bonus beyond the convenience factor.
