My husband and I have been married 5 years, and if anyone out there got married in ’08, you may remember me from Weddingbee as Mrs. Milkshake — the bride who tried on what felt like hundreds of dresses, and who was blessed to have an amazing same day edit of the big day.

I grew up an only child and really only wanted to adopt one child. My husband’s side of the family had two kids each – the eldest was always a boy and the younger a girl. When I was pregnant and people asked my husband if he wanted a boy or a girl, his response was always, “Let’s hope for my wife’s sake that it is a girl.”

I dance, sew, draw, do photography, make jewelry, and indulge in all kinds of crafts in my free time. Twenty weeks into my pregnancy, I was gifted with the news I would indeed have a girl, and she already seemed to have her dancing legs. I thought my ribs would be permanently bruised the last couple months of the pregnancy.

I look forward about going into more details about my birth and the journey forward, touching on infant and post-postpartum health, cloth diapering, the uterus pinata I made for my fetus party (aka baby shower), and other adventures in crafting and cooking. Friends would describe me as the last person they know who would want kids, and I self-proclaimed myself to be baby-phobic many moons ago. So to anyone else out there that isn’t quite the beaming poster-child, or should I say, poster-mom of parenthood, cheers!
