Aren’t toddlers a joy?  My child often reminds me of a ticking time bomb.  One minute he is happy and all is right in the world.  Then you look at him the wrong way (or suggest something he doesn’t like, or don’t read his mind quickly enough) and he acts like the world is coming to an end.  Here are just a few of the lovely reasons my toddler has freaked out in the past week or so.

My toddler was freaking out…

Because he didn’t want his diaper changed.

Because he wanted his coat zipped.

Because he wanted his coat off NOW!

Because he wanted to wear Daddy’s coat.

Because he didn’t want Mommy to wear her coat.

Because he didn’t want to leave the park.

Because he wanted to stay home.

Because he wanted to sit in the big chair instead of the high chair.

Because he wanted to get in the high chair RIGHT NOW!

Because he wanted the big fork (we were not eating at the time).

Because I told him a puddle wasn’t called a dolphin (??).

Because he didn’t want to get out of the crib.

Because he didn’t want to get into the crib.

Because he wanted the blue toothbrush…that he was holding.

Because he couldn’t put on his sock himself.

Because he wanted the sock off NOW.

Because he didn’t want his diaper changed.

Because he wanted to hold the Elmo diaper.

Because he wanted to put on the diaper himself.

Because he wanted to sit on the potty.

Because the potty is scary.

Because I wouldn’t let him run while holding an umbrella.

Because he wanted to play chase with the dog, and the dog didn’t want to get up.

Because the dog was barking.

Because the dog wouldn’t give him kisses.

Because he didn’t want water – he wanted watermelon.

Because he wanted to eat a pretzel he found on the floor at Target, and I said no.

Because he wanted to eat a Goldfish cracker he found at the park, and I said no.

Because he wanted to eat a hot dog.

Because he ate the hot dog and it was “all goneeeeeeee”.

Because he didn’t want to get into the bath.

Because he didn’t want to get out of the bath.

Because bubbles are yucky and scary.

Because I wouldn’t let him touch the “splash” he made in the potty.

Because I wouldn’t let him flush the toilet three times in a row.

Because I ate his grape after he handed me the grape and said, “here Mommy”.

Because apples have peels, and he wanted to eat it himself, but the peel is yucky.

Because he didn’t want his diaper changed.

Because he didn’t want his diaper changed.

Because he didn’t want his diaper changed.
