PINK!!!!!

We are thrilled to share that Chloe has a healthy little sister, who is growing right on track.  We were wonderfully surprised to hear that we are having another girl!  I can’t wait to wash all of Chloe’s clothes and buy a few new pieces for baby Charlotte — yes, our little peanut’s name will be Charlotte!

I saw this print months ago and knew it would be perfect for a girl nursery.

I am lucky enough to be friends with someone who works in the ultrasound department at our hospital.  She did both of our first trimester screenings and told us the sex of our first baby. Another tech had done our anatomy scan and said she wouldn’t try to guess the sex until our friend had come into the room.  he was in the middle of checking for the baby’s sex, but we had no idea what we were looking at on the screen. Making conversation, my friend said, “What does Chloe want?” and Papa Jumper said, “A sister named Charlotte or an iPad.  There isn’t a brother in her in mind!” She replied, “Well,  what Chloe wants, Chloe gets!”

It was so shocking how she slipped the reveal into casual conversation, and it took us both a second  for it to REALLY register. Then the tears came flowing.  Knowing that we have a healthy daughter is such a wonderful feeling!

We had really been thinking about names since the beginning of this pregnancy.  We haven’t been able to agree on a boy name yet, but we had a few girl names in mind.  One day Chloe offered that she’d like a baby sister named Charlotte.  We loved the name and decided to use it if we had another girl. I’m not entirely sure where Chloe got the name from.  She doesn’t have any classmates or friends with that name, but I did notice that one of her books (that we don’t read often) has a character named Charlotte.  It’s the only place we can even guess that she got the name!

My intuition was wrong when predicting Chloe’s sex, but I was right this time around.  So was my husband, Chloe, and our 7 year old cousin!  He guessed correctly with Chloe, too.  Everyone else in our family was guessing boy based on the following:  I’m all belly this pregnancy (my hips were really wide with Chloe!), my skin is pretty great this time around (compared to the acne I had with Chloe), and baby’s heart rate has steadily been between 135-150 this entire pregnancy (Chloe’s hovered around 160).  Other than those few differences this pregnancy has been nearly identical to mine with Chloe.

Was your intuition right?  When did you find out the sex of your baby?
