16 great diy holiday hair do's
I really love searching through hair tutorials, and I usually pin them in hopes that I’ll try them down the road. Down the road only ever seems to come around the holidays or party time. I have never been really skilled at doing my hair, but when I see a tutorial of someone doing it themself, I get all hopeful and think, “if they can do it, so can I (surely).” And 80% of the time I can. I have learned to only pin hairstyles that appear to be easy to do, and leave the ambitious styles to the skilled.

Since it’s that time of year, and the holidays and parties are upon us, I’m back to actually trying out a few new hairdos. I know I can’t be the only one in need of at least one fancy, but not too fancy hair do that is different than that regular everyday do. So I put a few (16 is a few, right?) styles I was looking at into a round up, to make your search a little easier.

french braid bunFrench Braid Bun – Unfortunately I couldn’t find a tutorial, but it looks rather easy (if a french braid falls into easy). A french braid started below the crown and the ends are twisted into a bun. Maybe I should try it before I claim it’s easy? [image via hairstyle]

half up low bunHalf Up Bun – There isn’t a tutorial, but more pictures on Kari Addison which are helpful. I think it’s the loose curls that make this look so beautiful. [image via Kari Addison Beautiful]

high and tight crown braidHigh Crown Braid (with tutorial) – I’m not really sure this one would fall into the easy category, but it was too pretty not to include. short half crown braidShort Half Up Crown Braid (with tutorial) – Perfect for us gals with short hair, just different enough from the everyday do that it looks party fancy. [image and tutorial via the wonder forest]

faux braid half up half downHalf Up Half Down Faux Braid (with tutorial) – I don’t know if it’s because of her beautiful locks, but this do is easily one of my favorites. I’ll probably sing a different tune once I try it on my own strands. [image and tutorial via once wed]

low chigonLow Chignon (with tutorial) – One of those hairstyles I could never get the hang of, but always envied. Also try saying chignon a few times. I personally like to call this one “that low turned up twist thing” to avoid the ‘chignon slip up. [image and tutorial via the small things blog]

short half up knotShort Hair Halfsie (with tutorial) – This is one of those styles that I can do and it looks best when it’s a little messy. [image and tutorial via the beauty department]
