Create simple St. Patrick’s Day head decor for boys and girls using toilet paper rolls and felt fabrics! This easy shamrock headband and mini leprechaun hat each took around 5-10 minutes to craft, and your babes are sure to look adorable wearing them!
Shamrock Headband
- Cut 3 pieces of felt about 1.25 x 2”
- Either draw or free hand cut out the shamrock shape
- Needle and thread at base of leaf shape
- Close it in tight to form the leaflets, sew up the backside
- Add stem
- Open up the shamrock and style
- Cut elastic ribbon to size and knot
- Sew on Shamrock
Mini Leprechaun Hat
Materials used:
- Toilet paper roll cut in half
- Felt fabric sheets in various greens
- Black construction paper
- Yellow felt fabric
- Elastic band
- All purpose craft glue
- Cutting knife
- Self healing cutting mat
- 1/32nd hole punch
- Cut the toilet paper roll in half
- Measure the height of the roll against the sheet of fabric and cut.
- Roll it around and glue. Trim the excess with scissors.
- Cut about ¾” inch black strip for hat decor and glue on
- Trace the circle part of the roll on felt with pen/pencil and cut it out
- Trace again but now cut out a larger circle to create the hat brim
- Glue the edge of the toilet roll on both ends and glue on the small and large circle
- Cut a rectangle out of the yellow felt, fold in half and cut out another smaller rectangle. This will create the buckle look.
- Glue on.
- Punch holes on 2 sides of the hat brim, close to the hat
- Slide in the elastic and tie.
