Baby Pizza is 20-months-old and is growing more and more in love with books every day. Every morning when she wakes up, she will say “book!” and choose a book she wants me to read to her on the couch. Here is a list of Baby Pizza’s current favorite books!
Time to Say “Please”! – Whenever I come across an unfamiliar book by Mo Willems, I have to get my hands on it. Both girls love this playful book about manners. It provides examples of when to say please, thank you, excuse me, and I’m sorry. It’s never too early to teach a child good manners.
Good Night, Sleep Tight – The book is written in a repetitive, yet playful manner and incorporates a handful of popular nursery rhymes into the story.
My Friends – I enjoy Taro Gomi’s simple, yet thoughtful approach in many of his books. In this lovely book, the girl identifies all the different “friends” who have taught her important skills.
Moo Baa La La La – This book was always fun for both my girls because as soon as they started talking more, they were able say the last word on each page. It’s a great book to introduce animal sounds and is always one of my top choices to add to any baby library.
Horns to Toes and in Between – I love this book because it allows me to interact with Baby Pizza as we read along about the different body parts of the monster; aside from the horns and a tail, all the other body parts are just like ours.
Don’t Push the Button! – This interactive book engages the reader with a friendly purple monster. It is fun and simple enough for Baby Pizza to follow the monster’s promptings. She loves this book and is always asking to read “button.”
A Good Day – This book tells the story of four animals who started off with a rough day, but were able to still have a good day. It is such a sweet book to read and serves as a gentle reminder to any reader that a bad day can turn around and be a good day.
Ten Little Ladybugs – Baby Pizza loves this rhyming countdown book. She loves touching the plastic ladybugs on each page so it’s a great book to start counting together. She also enjoys all the different animals and bugs that appear on each of the pages.
I Love You All the Time – This book has been read so many times with both my girls that it has been ripped up and taped up multiple times. Because it is written in verse, I read the book to Baby Pizza as a song. It’s a great book to remind little ones that wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you love them all the time.
