It’s been six weeks since my last pregnancy update, so here we go! I haven’t had an ultrasound since I hit 12 weeks, but we will get to see baby on the screen again in just two short weeks. I’m full-on wearing nothing but maternity clothes now and sleeping with my pregnancy pillow every night. My bump has popped, and just yesterday I started experiencing belly-itching and noticed some new stretch marks forming. (No!!! I didn’t get stretch marks with my last pregnancy until something like 38 weeks.) I’m feeling good overall, though I did get some disappointing work news this week, which has put some emotional strain on me. I think it’s time to officially make yoga a part of my daily routine again.
18 weeks pregnant
How many weeks along are you? 18
Due date? September 27
How much weight have you gained? 12 pounds
Symptoms? occasional headaches; fatigue (For the most part, food aversions and nausea seem to be gone—whew!)
How is baby looking? Baby is the size of a bell pepper. We can’t wait to see him/her on the ultrasound in two weeks, when we will find out the sex as well as getting the full anatomy scan.
How is Little Cotton Candy adjusting? He is doing fine. Honestly, he hasn’t been asking as much about the baby lately, and I occasionally have to remind him that I need to lie down for a minute or that I can’t do a certain task for him because I have a baby in my tummy.
How is Mr. Cotton Candy adjusting? He’s doing well, too. He is getting excited about the baby being here.
How much planning have you done? Proud to say that, despite temptations, I haven’t bought anything for the baby yet (aside from the Craigslist dresser that will be the changing table). I have given myself permission to buy a onesie after we find out the sex, but I’m waiting to purchase any big-ticket items we need because we will be moving before the baby arrives, so no need to clutter up our house right now while we’re doing showings on a regular basis. Besides, some of our close family members want to buy us gifts for the baby, so I will wait and see what is left that we need afterward. We have received so many generous hand-me-down gifts and offers, and have a decent amount of stuff saved from Little Cotton Candy’s early days, so our registry currently has only 10 items on it. Woohoo!
What does the nursery look like? Well…there is no nursery to speak of since we are selling our house and hopefully moving into another one before the baby arrives. Since our next home purchase is contingent on the sale of our house, we haven’t been able to make an offer on a new house yet, so we still don’t know exactly where we will end up.
What are you missing the most? Sugar. After talking with my doctor two weeks ago, I have decided the best course of action to prevent this baby being born with hypoglycemia (and avoiding an expensive and inconvenient NICU stay) is to eliminate as much refined sugar as possible from my diet, as well as reduce my consumption of refined carbs and combine any carb-eating with protein-rich foods (think apples with peanut butter). It’s been hard saying no to dessert, especially with so much Easter candy in the house. (I did cave last night and I had two freshly baked cookies [thanks a lot, Mr. Cotton Candy!] after a stressful day.)
What’s the most exciting thing about this stage? Getting closer to finding out if we’re having a boy or girl!
How are all the other pregnant mamas doing? Anyone have recs for free yoga for pregnancy videos online?

Well hello there due date twin! We’re expecting our third to arrive on September 27th as well. Just like you I’m feeling fatigue and occasional headache. I have my check up tomorrow so I’ll find out how much weight I’ve gained. Kind of nervous to find out since I’ve been eating A LOT with this pregnancy.

I’m due Sep 6 and really dreading the whole super pregnant all through the summer thing. I always swore I didn’t want another September baby but oh well! I’m trying not to buy a lot for this baby either (we’re having a girl, and our first is a boy) but it’s kind of hard. for myself, the only thing I really need is a maternity swimsuit to help me survive the summer, so if anyone has good recommendations for something to wear swimming while pregnant, let me know!
