The other night I compiled a list of things I want for Mother’s Day and emailed it to my husband. Oh, just my way of giving my husband a rather large, obvious reminder that Mother’s Day is approaching – hint, hint, hint. I am so giddy about Mother’s Day and getting to celebrate it. I did celebrate last year, but it’s still so new to me and I feel more experienced as a mom – I love it!
When we started this parenthood journey, I had no idea how much work being a mom really is – that includes being a stay at home mom. I knew that it was a lot of work from other parent’s warnings, but you don’t actually know it until you live it. #momlife is real.
Anyway, I saw Mrs. Bee’s post about a momcation. That all sounds so wonderful. Sign me up for a big momcation. Hmm, maybe I should send that post to my husband as well. Hehehe. I’m so bad! But I don’t think a momcation is in the books for me this year. Of course, a simple hug and “thanks, I love you” would fill my heart, I wouldn’t mind receiving one of these lovely things:
Breakfast – You’ve all seen those commercials where the dad and kid come into the bedroom with breakfast for mom. I want that. Well, I want that, but I don’t actually want to eat in bed. I’m too much of a clean freak. But, I would love to go downstairs to find pancakes and coffee. I love pancakes especially with butter and powdered sugar. Oh heavenly! These are my favorite pancakes – they are like oatmeal and pancakes together. Yum!
Mom Bag – I’ve loved my diaper bag, but I think it’s time to graduate from my diaper bag to just a bigger purse with lots of pockets. Something cute yet practical. I’ve been eyeing this purse for years (yes, years). Unfortunately, this is more of a big birthday gift than mother’s day gift given the price tag, but these are more affordable and pretty dang cute like this one and this one.
Necklace – There are three necklaces I am drooling over right now.
Stacking Ring: I have one of Three Sister’s necklaces already and I love it. It was a bridal shower gift I received so long ago. I know this necklace would be just as loved as the one I own already.
Bar Necklace: Our family photographer wore this necklace when she took our newborn photos, and I asked her where she got it since I loved it so much. I think I would want it to say “mama” on it. Or, my baby’s birthday.
Mama Bear: We actually got this Rebekah Gough necklace for my mom-in-law for mother’s day two years ago. It was also part of the story of how we told my in-laws we were expecting — we wrote grand-mama bear in her card. Even though my mom-in-law owns this necklace, I’d love one too.
Shirts – What mom can resist a shirt with a fun “mom life” phrase? Some are funny and others are encouraging. Then when you put the shirt on in the morning, you feel ready to be the mom to conquer the day! This sweatshirt is perfect for me, this one is too true, and this one is just a great message.
Mug – I savor my morning cup of coffee, and putting it in a cute mom mug would give me a little smile. I think this mama bird mug is the cutest.
Apron – Are you a mom in the kitchen? I love cooking and baking and think these aprons are hot hot hot!
Art Print – I love everything on Minted, and my latest obsession are these silhouette prints. Just too adorable. Plus, right now they have a promotion going for 15% off.
Toms – Shoes that you can just slip on (yup, while holding a baby) are perfect. They are great for spring, summer, and fall and have the greatest designs and colors these days. These pineapples ones are freaking awesome.
Card – And of course, a card! Paper Source always carries great cards. I am very curious about the cards Minted offers now. The prices aren’t too crazy – maybe like a dollar more than the average card these days (have you noticed how pricey cards seem to have become lately?). I might have to try this out for the grandmas!
I hope my hubby gets the hint. Feel free to pass this along to your significant others as an obvious hint, too. Wink wink.
