I just started needing maternity clothing when I hit 17 weeks along. I grabbed my box of clothes from the last pregnancy, and I was disappointed to find that almost nothing fit me this time around, or it was for the wrong season. So I donated what didn’t work for me now (the jeans and pants) and saved what did work, namely tanks and skirts. Then I supplemented! I didn’t want to spend a lot so I don’t shop at any of the higher end stores. I also live in the desert so I don’t really need much for cold weather beyond a sweater. I tend to only wear dark colors and minimal patterns, so it is really easy for me to mix and match everything. I hope that this pregnancy capsule gets me through the next few months!

leggings

1. Black leggings, and these are My absolute favorite pair. I wear these both for everyday and for working out. They are soft, the panel stays up well, and they don’t sag or fall down on me.

black top
2. A plain cotton top. I love the 3/4 sleeves and the mostly cotton material. Pregnancy makes me sensitive to material choices because I get a little itchy, so I look for simple cotton tops like this.

tank
3. Plain cotton tanks in a variety of colors, and I love the green one here. Can be worn with leggings, for working on, our with long pants or a skirt.

patterned
4. A patterned tank, for when I don’t want to be in my usual monotone wardrobe. I love this fun and current print!

cardigan
5. A neutral cardigan works with any outfit, and I didn’t even need to buy a maternity version since it is open front.

shoes
6.  Birkenstocks are my go to shoe, and the straps adjust if your feet swell, the perfect pregnancy option! They are a little pricey for a casual shoe but they last forever.

skirt
7. A black maxi skirt. I found that this is another item that doesn’t have to be maternity specific as long as it has some stretch, just put the waistband under the belly.

hat
8. We get sun year round here, and pregnancy makes my skin feel more sensitive, so this floppy hat is perfect for when I spend time outside. I wear it all the time.

cropped
9. I didn’t bother with jeans during this pregnancy, but I absolutely adore these cropped pants. They are a thinner material and much more comfortable than jeans for me.
