Outside of Christmas, Easter is my favorite holiday to celebrate as a mom, with Halloween being a close third.

In the Snowflake family, for Christmas, we celebrate both the secular and religious sides of the holiday. My husband is spiritual but not religious and I am religious, so it is a good mix for our family. I take Snowy to Easter church services, as well as other Church services, and read her the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection in an age appropriate way, and we also do egg hunts, the Easter Bunny, etc. It is the same way we celebrate Christmas.

We usually look for a community Easter egg hunt or two to do, plus she does one at school. Then on Easter or the Saturday before, I hide 15-20 eggs or so and her basket. She uses a plastic bag to collect the eggs before she finds her basket, which generally has 3-4 toys and 2 books in it. I end up spending as much for Easter as I do for Christmas and her birthday, around $50. We don’t spend a ton for those holidays since they’re right next to each other and she gets so much from other people, which allows me to budget more for Easter.

LOL HairGoals Doll: This was the #1 thing Snowy wanted and the only thing she specifically requested for Easter. LOL Dolls are little Dolls that are in the $8-15 dollar range and come with many layers of packaging for kids to unwrap. There are many different ones so kids “collect” them. At first I vowed never to get one for Snowy. Ahh how quickly things change. She’s now gotten quite a few for birthdays, holidays, and with money she’s saved up. She doesn’t have one from the newest line that has fabric hair instead of plastic, so I picked it up as her main Easter item. It was the priciest thing I got (around $14), thus only getting one! I was going to put it in her basket but then I found the Unicorn egg below on sale and couldn’t resist. So I will be hiding that giant egg too (I mean, the bunny will).

Giant Unicorn Easter Egg: I picked mine up at Kroger and can’t find it online, but here is a cool personalized one on Etsy. I like how this one also serves as a basket; the one I got doesn’t have a handle.

Hatchimals CollEGGtibles, Easter Basket: She loves Hatchimals collectibles, and has hundreds of them but still never gets sick of them. She also doesn’t mind duplicates. I thought this seasonal Easter set, exclusive to Walmart, was really adorable. You rub the hearts til they turn pink, then crack open the eggs to get a little plastic figure. These eggs are special flower shaped for Easter. Last year, I got her a Hatchimals play set, which was the main thing in her basket. She still plays with it!

Jesus  Lives Pop-Up Book:The one I picked up at Wal-Mart, shown above, doesn’t seem to be available online anywhere. Maybe out of print? There seem to be other good options though, like this one, for children’s pop up books that talk about the resurrection.

Pikmi Pops The Missing Easter Bunny: I chose this book because it was inexpensive (I got it on sale for under $3), came with scented stickers, and featured characters from the Pikmi Pop surprise toys. As she loves all surprise toys and has a couple Pikmi pops, I know she will enjoy it.

Pikmi Pops Bubble Drops One-Pack: I got this to go with the book above. There is such a wide selection of these surprise toys, and she loves all of them, so I went with Pikmi Pops mostly because she doesn’t have a Bubble Drops yet and she likes new surprises, and also to go with the book above.

Easter Favorites Filled Egg Assortment (HE761)-W

For the egg hunt: pre-candy stuffed eggs. Stuffing eggs is easily my least favorite part of Easter. So I picked up some stuffed ones for under $7 onsale at Kroger. It’s worth my time and sanity, to me, for sure.

The basket is one thing I’m not buying new. We’ve gotten her a few Easter baskets over the years, my husband still has his old ones, and she’s also gotten some as gifts. So it’s just a matter of scrounging around in the basement to find one.

Do you celebrate Easter? If your kiddo is getting a basket, what are you putting in it this year?
