A couple of thoughts on day two post birth…

– We still have no idea what we’re going to name Baby Bee #2!  Something cute because she’s the size of a peanut!

– Deciding on having a VBAC is largely mental.

– When the doctor placed her on my chest immediately after she was born, it was so trippy!  I just pushed her out of me!

– My butt feels like I took the biggest dump of my life.  It’s so sore, it’s hard to even sit.  What would have happened to me if I pushed out an even bigger baby?

– I had second degree tears and had to get a bunch of stitches.  It was painful and took 30 minutes, which I wasn’t expecting at all.

– Even my arms are sore from pulling my legs back when I was pushing.

– But the recovery still beats a c-section.  With a c-section, Mr. Bee stayed at the hospital with me the entire 4 days because it was so hard for me to get out of bed to change/feed Charlie.  With baby bee #2, I’m by myself most of the time because I’m not in a private room, so there are visiting hours.  (I was lucky enough to get a shared room to myself, so I didn’t have to pay for a private room.)

– Baby Bee is at a high risk for jaundice because she was born early so her liver is underdeveloped, she’s East Asian, and because Charlie had jaundice.  Her bilirubin levels rose a lot today so I’ve been on a every 3 hour breastfeeding (still colostrum only) + pumping + formula feeding schedule.

– I don’t like pumping because it causes my stomach to cramp heavily (your uterus shrinking post labor).

– It takes awhile for your nipples to toughen up.

– Baby bee is having trouble maintaining her body temperature, so we have to keep 2 hats and 3 swaddle blankets on her at all times.   But if the pediatrician gives us the ok, we can go home tomorrow morning!  It’s a little scary because she is so, so tiny.
