Wonder Baby had her six month birthday! It’s been a very exciting (and somewhat exhausting) month for us.
Wonder Baby has finally learned to roll onto her back consistently! Now she spends a lot of her awake time roaming around on the floor. She can squirm, but usually still goes backwards, and she can pivot really well. It’s fun to watch her start to explore, although I had to step up my floor cleaning routine! She’s been getting a bath or time in the pool most evenings with her sister and is loving it. I love watching them interact; WB thinks her sister is the most amazing and funny person in the world.
Eating:
Her nursing has been going quite well, aside for a couple days while teething when we had some biting. She has both her bottom teeth through now, so I hope we’ll get a bit of a break. I’m back on wheat and dairy, and she seems to be doing just fine. I reintroduced dairy two weeks before starting her on solids to be sure that if she had a reaction, it was easy to spot.
On her six month birthday she got to start Baby Led Weaning. So far she’s enjoyed cheese, egg cut in strips, lamb burger, avocado, cucumber, strawberries and yogurt. It’s such a mess (thus the more regular bathing)! She had a couple bad spit ups on the first day, so I stopped for a day until her tooth was through. I think the combination of teething (which resulted in more comfort nursing) with starting solids was just a bit rough on her tummy. She’s been doing great for the past couple days, however.
Sleeping:
Her sleep was awful all month. Her naps were down to about half and hour each and she was waking up all night. I think she was totaling about 10 hours in 24 — not nearly enough for a baby! She pulled the wonder week/teething/learning to roll triad of sleep doom for a week or so. I’m so tired that I hardly realized how bad it was, but I’ve had enough and today we started on EASY with the Baby Whisperer. I’m doing it strict, just the way she has it down, including the sleep training. Wish me luck tonight! I’ll be sure to post on how it goes next week. I’m really hoping we can get some sleep soon!
TODDLER GIRL – 30 MONTHS
Toddler Girl is now 30 months old (or 2 and a half!).
Playing:
She’s so much braver than last summer! At one, she was cautious to the point of fearful with most things toddlers think are fun. This year she loves playing at the lake, she goes down slides by herself and thinks that swings are fun instead of torture devices. It’s a lot of fun.
She loves to be outside all the time, and digs in the dirt with her shovel and bucket whenever she can. We got her a little table and chair for her art and she loves it. I hope to get it set up nicely for fall when we play inside more, but it’s great for her to have a place to draw.
Learning:
The big thing, of course, is that we potty trained this month. We still have occasional accidents, but she’s doing really well (and has never had an accident in public, knock on wood). She’s gotten up dry from her nap a few times this week, so we’ll probably start naps in panties soon.
She’s very interested in letters now, and can pick out the first letter of her name when she sees it.
Sleeping:
She was having trouble falling asleep and getting a bit clingy at bedtime again while we potty trained, but seems over it now. I think she’s just a sensitive kid and changes in her life will always reflect in her sleep.
….
It so fun watching them grow up together, especially now that they’re interacting more. Toddler Girl will do funny dances for Wonder Baby, who will laugh and laugh and laugh. It makes my heart happy.

You guys make me blush, I have to admit I just stare at their cuteness in awe sometimes.
@Coco Bee: she would be the best baby model, she’s so easy to make smile! Toddler Girl tends to sob and wilt into a corner when a someone tries to make her sit for a photo. Maybe she could be one of those high end models who just glare and look sad?

@Coco Bee: it really is, I’ve twice had nice family photos taken this year and haven’t gotten a good smile out of her (she was crying and trying to get away in the last batch)
