As we hunker down in preparation for another snow storm, I can’t help but think of summer, the warmth, the long days spent outside, and the beach. I have never been a fan of the winter and now as stores start putting out their spring lines and resort collections filled with swimsuits, my mind is already dreaming about a day laying out at the beach. I have started to look at swimsuits for both the kids and myself since our summers are often spent at the beach, spray park, friends’ pools, and our own backyard with the sprinklers. We’re also taking a trip to Disney this summer, and I imagine we will be hitting the pools at the hotel daily so I’m starting to check out the selections to know what to buy when the sales start. Here is my roundup of swimming suits for boys, girls, and moms!
No. 1 – Gap Rash Guard Hoodie
No. 2 – Boden Stars Trunks
No. 3 – Gymboree Mini Mariner
No. 4 – Carters Lobster Rash Guard and Trunks
No. 6 – Janie and Jack Sea Creatures Bucket Hat – I always buy rash guards and bottoms for Drake so I try to usually buy in sets (hats are a bonus since I have experienced a burned scalp and it’s not fun at all). But now and then I find cute bottoms with no top matches, so I find basic rash guards that go with more than one bottom.
No. 7 – Janie and Jack Sea Creatures Trunks
No. 8 – Gymboree Jolly Crab Captain – Drake picked this one out when he saw the crab as he walked by, so I hope to buy this for him since he was so keen on it.
No. 9 – Next Direct Dino SunSafe – I actually bought this one for Drake because I loved it so much.
This is the first year I get to buy bathing suits for a little girl, and I’m finding that shopping for a girl is both a ton of fun and super overwhelming as there is so much to love. I am also torn as I want Juliet to be sun safe, but I can’t resist how cute girl suits are without rash guards! Since Juliet is so young, I might be ok this year with not using a rash guard as she probably will mostly be in the shade with me.
No. 1 – Gymboree Sailor Striped Rash Guard Set, No. 2 – Gymboree Anchor Hat, No. 3 – Gymboree Anchor Terry Coverup – I love this matching cover up!
No. 4 – Old Navy Heart One-Piece – If I do go with rash guards I do like these one pieces I use to use when Drake was little
No. 5 – Gymboree Tutu Swimming Suit
No. 6 – Old Navy Polka Dot Swimming Suit
No. 7 – Janie and Jack Nautical Swimming Suit
I haven’t bought a bathing suit for myself in a long time, but after two children I am a little bit more conscious of how my body has changed, and as I’ve moved from my twenties to my thirties. I have started to look more at one pieces and was surprised at some of the cuter options.
No. 1 – Gottex Bandeau Swimdress
No. 2 – Modcloth Red Beach Blanket Bingo One Piece
No. 3 – Juicy Couture Boho Stripe Bandeau Swimdress
No. 4 – Victoria’s Secret Ruched Halter One Piece
No. 5 – Modcloth Boardwalk the Runway One Piece
No. 6 – Ralph Lauren Striped Hardware Bikini – If I do change my mind, I’m considering this two piece
. . . . .
Have you started shopping for warmer weather?

Does anyone else have a little one who has a big head? We went to Hawaii earlier this month and none of the rash guard tops fit over his head! Any recommendations on rash guards that have big openings?

@Lindsay I always size up on rash guards My son has a huge head too and rash guards are tight so I always go one size bigger then he currently wears to accomodate

I too buy the rash guard big to deal with the head issue. Love these options – with the negative degree windchill here, I am loving the post for fling the fire for my summer daydreams.

@Mrs. Confetti: I have seen some rash guards that zip up to help with the head issue. I think I saw them on Target’s website last year.
I am so excited to take LO to the beach all the time this summer. She will be just 2 and I think she is going to really enjoy it. I need to think about what gear I will need other than swimsuits (which we bought on clearance last year and I am hoping will still fit!).
