I’ve mentioned before that I tend to be a creature of habit. Once I find something I really like, I can’t get enough of it! I could eat the same meal for days in a row and wear the same things for days (confession: sometimes I do…I often wear the same outfit on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday…).
My style tends to be comfy meets trendy and the comfy part makes certain items just irresistible. I’ve bought some great items this Spring into Summer that I just can’t seem to stop putting into rotation and I thought I’d share them with you while they’re still available for purchase (and many of them on sale!):
1) J Crew Factory Stripe Tank Dress – I love the idea of maxi dresses, but usually find them either a) too hot or b) so clingy that they accentuate my bumps and rolls ;). Enter (what I think) is the perfect maxi! It has side slits that make it airy and not suffocating and hot. Plus, the defined empire waist with the looser top make it definitely more flattering that other maxi dresses I’ve tried.
2) J Crew Pima Jersey Pocket Tank – Meet the softest tank ever. Mr. Cowboy is seriously jealous that J. Crew doesn’t make any men’s tees in this material. It’s that comfortable. Plus it’s loose-fitting enough where it’s flattering, but not clingy. I love it in this dusty blossom color — such a pretty color and so flattering on tanned skin!
3) Mossimo Tank top – I love the vintage-y surfer look of this tank. Plus, it’s (of course) super comfortable!
4) Merona Slub Tank – I love the fun pineapple print on this top! I’ve seen pineapple and other fruit prints at much more high end stores, so this comfy $10 top is definitely a deal!
5) Forever21 Rhinestone necklace – This necklace is a fun way to glam up those tank tops. I love to layer it with an initial necklace since it falls a little longer than my other chain necklaces.
6) Loft Petite Lace Riviera Shorts – These shorts are a little dressier, but still really comfortable. I love pairing it with the dusty blossom J. Crew tank, the turquoise bead necklace and the gold Birkenstock sandals. In fact, I may or may not have worn this outfit every Saturday for the last 3 weeks…;)
7) Birkenstocks Catania by Papillio – These were definitely my biggest splurge this season. But, for the last few summers, I’ve trekked around in different sandals and flip flops and always had achy feet. While I was feeling a little suspect about the resurgence of Birkenstocks, when I stumbled upon these, I could resist. The gold and the criss-cross design definitely make these more feminine and they can be easily dressed up or down. Plus, after wearing them for 2 weeks and having them mold to my feet, they are the most comfortable summer shoes I’ve ever had!
8) J Crew Factory Denim Roll-up Shorts – I find that shorts are most flattering when they are loose around the thigh and hit just where your thigh/quad begins to narrow. These jorts (yes, they’re baaaack!) check off both of those things for me and they are so comfy and perfect for running around town or around the playground with my little dude. (Psssst…a quick tip: I find that the J. Crew Factory stores always have different and better deals in store, so it’s worth the trek out if you have one somewhat near you!)
9) Forever21 Boho Beaded Necklace – Turquoise always screams summer to me, and this fun bead statement necklace is a great way to add some color to a summer outfit. Plus, the beads are really lightweight making this statement necklace bearable in hot summer weather.
What are your go-to pieces this summer?

I have the navy lace shorts from Loft and love them! I love the white, too, but am too afraid of getting them dirty.

I have that J Crew tank, and I agree that it’s fabulous.

Love this!
My summer uniform has been jcrew boyfriend or chino shorts, a ribbed cotton tank and my birks or flip flops. Nursing/mat leave friendly.
Oh, and sunnies+sunscreen.
And a baby on my hip!

ok i’m going to have to order some of those j crew tanks.
are they pretty loose? deciding whether to get small or medium. i like a looser fit.

@Mrs. Bee: they are definitely a looser fit. i normally wear a small and the small is nice and loose fitting. i posted a picture on IG last week where I’m wearing it and that’s after 3 washings, so it has kept its looseness, too!

I have those same lace Loft shorts, in a mint color! And I wasn’t sure about the resurgence of Birks either, but am sooo in love with my Gizehs – they are the comfiest thing ever, and looks great with any outfit!
I am so coveting that J.Crew maxi – dresses are my go to in the summer! I LOVE maxis and already have 3-4 of them, but lately I’ve been wearing shorter summer dresses because it makes it easier for me to move my legs and chase after my two rambunctious toddlers without tripping over myself.

I’m wanting to get the J Crew tanks, but all the reviews say the arm hole is large and exposes your bra. Do you have this issue?

Oh! I LOVE that maxi dress!

Let’s talk about the shoes. I need comfortable, stylish, feminine shoes as a flip flop alternative. Are these the answer?
blogger / nectarine / 2687 posts
@Alivoo01: I’m sorry I never answered this!!! Yes, the arm holes are large-ish, but I wear a nude colored racerback bra with this and it doesn’t seem to show to the point where i feel like it’s exposed. Maybe a little if my arms are raised?

@Mrs. Stroller: YES. They are amazing! The only thing is is that they’re not the best for really narrow feet. So unless your feet are really narrow, I think these might work well for you! I LOVE them.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: ugh, they’re super narrow!
