I love thematic units! Preschools use them because kids tend to learn best when they are able to make connections. While young children are practicing things like fine motor coordination, counting, color identification, sorting, etc., themes allow adults to introduce new vocabulary as well as other content simultaneously, while keeping things fresh and interesting for the kiddos.
Since Little Lion isn’t in preschool yet, but is old enough to need some structured activities in his day, I have decided to plan and implement themed activities on a monthly basis. May’s theme is Seeds, Flowers, and Gardens! I have divided the month into weeks with a focus for each, and for each week I have included art, sensory, and movement activities. I am looking forward to trying out as many of these activities as we can squeeze into this month! I would love to hear if you have any additional activities to add to this collection.

Great ideas! We just planted a garden, and the boys are really into it. These would go along great with our gardening project.
