This is a gorgeous Montessori activity that allows the child to explore and learn about flowers.
I have collected a range of flowers and presented them with a magnifying glass. My four year old son and I looked at them, smelled them and we decided to dissect them!
For this activity I also presented some Montessori Parts of a Flower Cards. I’ve used cards from Montessori for Everyone but there are many others available online. I downloaded them and printed them with my home printer. The cards help us to highlight and identify specific parts of the flower. Here I wanted to show my son the corolla (all of the petals), stamen and pistil.
I cut the flowers open with an x-acto knife. We looked at the flowers and eventually pulled them apart with the tweezers. This is all about fun and hands on learning.
If you are looking for other Montessori flower activities I love this cross-section model, parts of a flower book and flower puzzle.
