I can’t believe how big Baby H has grown – and that she is already 8 whole weeks! In so many ways the time has just flown by and I can’t believe I go back to work in another month. I feel like I need so much more time at home 24/7 with my baby girl, but sadly that’s not in the cards. I will just have to cherish each and every moment of the next month (even the crying fits and poop explosions!).

Want to see how big she’s gotten? Take a look at her week-by-week photos and I’ll meet you at the end.

Notice we kind of changed how we’re doing our weekly photos? I like the vertical shots of her so much better! Anyway, isn’t it fun to see how much she’s changed over the course of the 8 weeks? The first picture she was such a sleepy little baby and this last week’s picture shows a very animated, silly baby. Love it!

Our “state of the family” right now is this:

What we’ve learned:  We have learned so much patience. It’s amazing how hard it can be to get a little one to calm down, and learning to read her cues have been a struggle. We finally know her “hungry cry” from her “dirty diaper cry” and if it’s not one of those two, she’s probably sleepy. We’ve also learned to be incredibly selfless. Everything we do is with her in mind and our world definitely revolves around Baby H!

What we’re enjoying right now: How much fun she is to interact with! On top of giving us lots of coos and smiles, Baby H is really starting to play with us. She will mimic (it seems) words we say. Her favorite is “Hello” and she will try and say it over and over again. She also played the most adorable game of burying her face in my shoulder and then peeking out at Mr. H. She played this shy little game over and over!

What our biggest struggles are: Finding the balance between keeping Baby H happy and being able to interact with each other, like eating meals together and sleeping in the same bed!

What has been Baby H’s most exciting milestone: Definitely the smiles! She grins at us from ear to ear in the mornings, and it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

What we’re looking forward to: When she’s sleeping through the night better. Some nights are awesome and we get big long stretches of sleep, and other nights she’ll wake up for her first feeding and then be up all night!
