I stopped using a real diaper bag for my kids (ages 4 and 6) awhile ago, but I still need to carry around a few things for them, and I want to look stylish while I do it! With that in mind, I bought the Rebecca Minkoff Julian Backpack about 2 years ago, and it is still going strong as my daily backpack/purse. I don’t shop frequently these days, but when I do, I am mindful about what I buy and try to buy quality items that I love and will last the test of time (a la the Marie Kondo way). My Julian Backpack is definitely one of those items. I’ve lost count how many strangers have stopped me and asked me where I got my backpack.

Recently, I purchased the Fjallraven Kanken Backpack for an upcoming vacation. I’ve been admiring it for some time now because it is water resistant, compact, but holds a lot! It comes in so many cute colors, and was originally designed for Swedish schoolchildren, but has become really popular and trendy here in the states. I know I will get a lot of use out of it for trips to theme parks, as a carry on for vacations, and all sorts of activities as the kids get older. It’s the type of bag that can handle a little wear, tear, and destruction… but will still look cute while its at it. I’m all for functional and¬†attractive. Win win!

Here is a list of stylish, functional backpacks that I personally wouldn’t mind sporting around town:
