We skipped sippy cups and went straight for straw cups. At a friend’s recommendation, we tried the 3) Take n Toss straw cups by The First Years first, and they were easy to use for Little C, easy to clean, and cheap enough to just toss and replace if they get icky. The only downfall is that they aren’t very leak proof – we mostly use it around the house and sitting in a high chair, so for now, I am not worried too much about it.

We also skipped sippy cups and went to straw cups. We started with 3) Take N Toss straw cups, then eventually settled on 7) Munchkin Mighty Grip Flip straw cups for water and daycare lunches. When we’re out and about, we like to take a 12) Camelbak Kids with us. And when we’re at home, for milk we like to use a cup we found at 7) Old Navy. It’s exactly like the Take N Toss cups except 1) they can’t pull the straw out of the top and 2) they can’t bite the straw closed because it’s thick plastic. We have 4 of these! I love them.

1) Tilty – This sippy cup features a tilted wall inside the cup that makes it much easier for babies to use before they learn how to tilt the cup back. It was by far the easiest cup for Olive to use when she first started drinking water at 6 months. She also hated being fed, so we would put brothy soups in this cup and she would drink the soup.

1) Skip Hop Zoo Straw Bottle – We received two of these as a gift and we use them when we’re going to be out for a while because they hold a lot of water and don’t leak. Plus they’re so adorable!

1) Cool Cap – I’m thinking about buying this because Olive is obsessed with drinking from cups in restaurants and just cups in general, but she’s always spilling them. This spill-proof cap fits on any cup and makes it spill-proof!

3) Take N Toss straw cups – I actually bought these because of Mrs. Wagon’s recommendation back when Charlie and Wagon Jr. were both starting solids (they had the exact same due date!). They’re cheap so you don’t care if you lose them, and they get the job done.

2) Take n Toss sippy cups – This is what we use everyday now. We actually stopped using sippy cups for Charlie when he was younger than Olive (20 months) and he just drank out of regular cups, with or without straws. But Olive tends to spill so she still needs a sippy cup. We would use the Take n Toss straw cups, but we’ve lost all the straws.

We use the sippy cup lids for my 9) Life factory 4 oz and 9 oz bottles.

We never use sippys and we went straight to a straw up. I like the 10) Playtex Lil’ Gripper Straw Cups. They don’t have much of a valve so they don’t require a lot of sucking to get the water out. They were the only ones that were as easy to drink from as my Nathan water bottle, which is what Little M “learned” on. Plus they’re cheap, so I don’t care when he drops them on concrete from his stroller (still haven’t broken yet!)

I use bottles for breast milk and will ’til there is no more milk in the freezer.

I second Mrs. Stroller’s recommendation of the 10) Playtex Lil’ Gripper Straw Cups. We also went straight to straw cups, and went through a bunch before I picked these up at Target one day. They’re easy to drink from, don’t leak when they get thrown on the floor, actually close well (so I’m not worried when they are in my bag), and are cheap enough that I don’t care if one gets lost or mixed up at daycare.

We also skipped sippy’s and went straight to straw cups. We started with the 10) Playtex Lil’ Gripper Straw Cups (that Mrs. Stroller and Mrs. Chalk already mentioned). It helped because you can push on it to help the liquid come up. As soon as Noelle figured out there was liquid coming up from the straw, she figured out how to drink from it pretty quickly.

We also use the 3) Take N Toss straw cups. It’s cheap and durable (we don’t really toss any of them)… but it does leak if you drop it or lay it on its side. We use it mainly at home.

We also didn’t use sippy cups. By the time Lil’ CB came home, he was 15 months old and I’m not sure whether or not his foster mom used sippy cups with him. She did say that he knew how to use a straw, so we just went with that. We went through a couple: the Foogo insulated one (meh, it wasn’t worth the price and it was hard to clean); the Playtex insulated straw cup (we liked this one a lot); and the 11) Munchkin Click Lock Insulated straw cup — this one is our fave because it keeps drinks cold, is easy to suck, and is easy to clean.

We use the 4) Rubbermaid litterless juiceboxes, so a straw cup. It was the only cup Ria could figure out with she was little, and we use them with Sunny because we have a bunch. They are cheap and easy to find, but aren’t 100% spillproof.

I love the 5) Gerber Graduates Grips sippy cups. We have gone through our fair share of cups, but these seem to leak the least and the kids were able to use them early on. My daughter was drinking from her brothers’ cups when she was about 7 months old.

No sippys here! We use my Camelbak water bottle. Lorelei drinks so well from it. We also have a few Baby Bjorn large-bottomed cups that she will drink from.

We started with a straw cup, but have been using the 2) Take n toss sippy cups lately and love them. They’re cheap, easy to clean, and work just fine. He also loves drinking out of my camelbak bottle, so we got him a 12) kid’s size one to use when we’re out and about, as the take n toss do leak.

We found an Easter themed straw cup at Target for J’s easter basket and it has turned out to be our favorite cup! the straw is kind of like rubber or silicone so it’s soft and was easy for him to learn how to suck. It has handles so he can hold it easily. The one caveat is the lid isn’t secured well: he realized early on that by banging the cup on the floor he can pop the lid off.

I have yet to find another straw cup I love so much for that price (I think it was around $5?!) and actually went back to Target to get a new one and I think it was an easter-only item!

Like a bunch of the other bees… we went straight to straw cups! We started with the 3) Take N Toss straw cups and never looked back. You can’t beat the price, or the ease. Since then, we’ve mixed in the sippy version of these for when friends come over, since not all of them are “straw savvy” yet.

Our very first sippy cup was the 6) Tommee Tippee Explora cup. No complaints!

Our second sippy was the 10) Playtex Lil’ Gripper Straw Cups (which Aliya still uses for when we go out). We use the 3) Take N Toss straw cups at home for milk.

I spent way too much money buying sippy cups. It took us forever to find one that Chloe liked! We needed a hard spout because she chewed on anything soft! 8) Tommee Tippee Truly Spill proof Sporty Bottle seemed to do the trick for her.

She likes the seasonal straw cups from Target, too. The straws are long and bendy, and don’t come out of the cup.

We only ever used the 8) Tommee Tippee Truly Spill Proof Sporty Bottle with Drake. After we lost all of those we picked up this generic kind at Walgreens he was using at the babysitter’s. I have tried a few straw ones too, but Drake never used them well and would get frustrated so we just stuck with these soft spout ones.

We skipped sippy cups and went straight to the straw, which lots of my friends advised. We like the 10) Playtex Lil’ Gripper Straw Cups the best. We also use the 3) Take N Toss straw cups often for smoothies.

The hands down most popular cups are the 3) Take N Toss straw cups and the 10) Playtex Lil’ Gripper Straw Cups. Which is your little one’s favorite sippy cup?
