Well, hi there! I’m thrilled to be joining the Hellobee team and I look forward to talking with you all. I stumbled upon Hellobee shortly after I was pregnant. In my usual fashion, when something crazy-big happens, I tend to go on an information hunt. This involved finding some pregnancy and parenting blogs that I could follow. I came across Hellobee and it was perfect — it provided information to guide me along in my pregnancy and now during my son’s first year.

Before jumping to baby talk, let me step back a bit and share a bit about myself. I was born and raised in Encinitas, CA (near San Diego). Since then I’ve slowly moved up the West Coast — from the Bay Area, to Eugene, and landing in Seattle. Along the way, I met my best friend and husband, Mr. Macaron.

Mr. Macaron and I met at Santa Clara University. Later we learned we went to rival high schools and grew up just miles from each other. We ended up dating after I sat next to his high school best friend on the plane. I was returning home from my junior semester abroad in Madrid and was talking with his friend on the plane, only to discover we both knew Mr. Macaron. Since it was Christmas break, we decided to all meet up for coffee. That’s when Mr. Macaron and I became friends. But that’s not what brought us together. It took until senior year, when we were neighbors and I brought him homemade banana bread, for us to finally start dating.

A few years after college, Mr. Macaron decided to go to law school at University of Oregon. He proposed during the first year as a law student, and I journeyed up the coast to join him in Oregon. After his graduation, we headed to Seattle since we loved the Pacific Northwest and we fell in love with the city.

We were married in 2009 and enjoyed a few years as a couple. In 2015, we paid off all our debt, moved to a rental house (with a yard and dishwasher!), and got a puppy — all things in my grand plan before starting a family (only thing missing was a trip to Croatia). We were surprised when shortly after the house and puppy, to find that I was pregnant. Sure, we were trying, but we didn’t expect it to happen quite so quickly! By January 2016 our son was born. Our life changed radically…for the best, of course!

Instead of returning to my digital marketing job, I decided to stay at home with my precious little guy. Right now we don’t have any definite plans for me to return to work; we’re just waiting until the time feels right. I feel so blessed that I get to spend this time with my son. It’s a lot of work (ha, I had NO idea), but it’s definitely worth it.

My days are full of naps, feedings, diapers, playtime, and of course the dreaded crying. But I have found time to still indulge in some of my favorite pastimes such as cooking, baking, reading, and writing my personal blog. Traveling is another thing I hope to bring back into the mix as well, but with an infant maybe nothing too crazy for awhile (I’ll get to you yet, Croatia!). Then again, children under 2 years can fly without purchasing a ticket…hmmm…

You’ll see me posting here as Mrs. Macaron. Macarons represent me pretty well. I love to bake and eat macarons, and since they’re from France it shows my passion for travel. Not to mention, I am totally a sucker for sweets.

I can’t wait to share some of my discoveries, adventures, challenges, and joys of being a first time mom. As well as learn from you all, too, because this whole parenthood thing…it ain’t easy. If only there were a single manual to tell you what to do. Thankfully, we have community and friends to help us along.

Cheers and Hugs to you all!
