When I was researching lunch options for Charlie and discovered the world of bentos, I got a little obsessed and ordered a bunch of cute bento supplies. You don’t need to be super creative to put together a pretty bento box — these supplies make it easy!
1. Dr. Sears Nibble Tray – Charlie is not a big eater so all the bento boxes I looked at were too big. While this is technically a snack tray, it’s the perfect size bento box for Charlie. The detachable top portion of the pineapple is designed to hold dipping sauces, and can even be frozen to keep them cold. Charlie definitely eats much better when he has a bunch of variety so he can pick his favorite foods first (usually pickles and olives).
3. Decorative picks – These are more decorative than functional (I’ve seen people stick grapes and other round fruits on them). They are small so I would hesitate using any of the animals other than the giraffe until Charlie is a little bit older.
4. Lunch Punch Sandwich Cutter – Lunch punches come in a variety of designs (I got the car design since Charlie loves any type of moving vehicle), and make sandwiches so much more fun!
5. Silicone muffin cups – These are one of the most used items in bentos as they help keep foods separate in bento boxes.
6. Egg molds – Makes your hard boiled eggs 1000x cuter.
7. Rice molds – Stuff rice in these molds to make fun shapes.
8. Food markers – For drawing on fruit, veggies, bread, and more!
9. Face punches – These punches are designed for cutting cute faces out of seaweed. See them in action here!
I haven’t had a chance to use too many of these tools yet because life has been a little hectic with launching Hellobee and Charlie starting daycare for the first time, but I can’t wait! You can check out some of the bento lunches I’ve created for Charlie here!

Wow, I didn’t realize there were so many choices to make lunches fun!! I need to get some of these. My 2nd grader is a picky eater and I think he’d enjoy/eat his lunch more if I packaged it like this.

I was looking for toddler friendly sized bento boxes (with built in dividers — my boy is a great eater but is starting to hate his food touching!) and just ordered a bunch of the Nibble Trays too.

I got the rice molds and found that oatmeal molds awesomely! I don’t know about the microwave stuff but I used regular leftover oats I had mixed with berries and nuts for breakfast and we had cute little oatmeal shapes for a snack later on.
