Summertime is all about being outside and playing in the sunshine and lovely temps but sometimes, even in this outdoor season, we have to find activities for indoors. We’ve had a string of very hot, humid days which have kept us inside and after a few days, our regular activities just aren’t holding their attention. So how about a little croquet? From this inspiration pin, I set up indoor croquet for my little ones and it was so fun!

The tunnels themselves are so simple. Cut strips of paper. I used 8 1/2 x 11 pieces and cut them in half, but you can do wider or narrower. Fold the shorter ends in about a half an inch to an inch. Then use washi tape or regular tape to secure it on the floor.

Balls on wooden floors fly quickly and balls on carpet are just a hint slower. You choose.

Need an appropriate indoor croquet mallet? If you don’t already have a child-size club, I figured out a way to make one using simple materials, most of which you probably already have.

Supplies:
-cardboard tube
-washi tape or other tape
-cutting blade
-small plastic bat*, yard stick, broom handle, etc
-optional – ball

*I got our mini bats in the $1 spot at Target but they are similar to these small plastic bats.

Cut the cardboard tube down and use the bat to mark a circle for the bat to sit in. Use the cutting blade to cut out the circle. The bat should fit snug like in the hole. Then place strips of washi tape over the open ends and then wrap it all.

When it’s all wrapped, slip it on the bat and get to playing!
