Diorama – a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit.
Have you made dioramas with your children? It’s a fantastic way to explore or develop some of the child’s interests or to display their work or research!
To start, I work with each child to choose a theme and select the materials they need. Each child may need to do additional research or spend some time planning.
We trim some suitably sized boxes.
We paint the boxes.
Then we arrange the materials. At this time we might source new materials or move items around. Above is my youngest son’s (5 year old) African Savannah diorama.
This is my eldest son’s (8 years) Solar System diorama!
We like to display our dioramas on our shelves and the children love to show and tell our visitors all about them! It is a fun activity, perfect for a rainy day or long weekend!
