This was Little H&S’s original nursery, and I loved every minute in that room. Of course, I was prepared for her arrival months in advance. Things certainly are different with the new baby! I’m still realizing there are things I need… like, oh… a winter coat and bunting? I can’t bring baby home in a car seat and footie jammies during a snowstorm, can I?
Currently, this room is in the middle of its transformation for our baby boy on the way. We kept all the furniture the same and in the same spots. The wall color is the same, but the decor is totally different. What keeps me from feeling melancholy about the fast passing of time is the fact that all the decor transferred over to her new big girl room, and I’m loving how the new nursery is coming along. I can’t wait to share it here when it’s done (by next month at the latest). I hope you enjoy what the space used to look like, and that you might find some inspiration in it!
A favorite detail of mine is the “hooray” banner above the shelving unit… it’s a word I love and it adds to the goal of making the room cheerful. I got it from Caitlin at her Etsy shop called Nice. Check it out, she’s got some lovely things there. Below the banner is a Melamine Zoo Tray by Shinzi Katoh. The writing reads: Who is the biggest animal in the zoo? I loved the shade of yellow and the illustrative style was right on for what I’d been looking for in terms of wall art.
We had our $9 Salvation Army thrifted swivel-rocker chair custom-fit with a yellow/white slipcover, and we were pleased with how it came out! I added some fabric in embroidery hoops to the wall by the chair to add more warmth to the space. It’s a fun and inexpensive way to add art.
Mr. H&S’s parents were incredibly generous to gift us the Classic crib in birch by Oeuf… they are too sweet and we really, really appreciated it. I wanted to go with a “modern” look for the nursery, and it fit the bill and then some!
I was on the lookout for bedding with the perfect shade of yellow and for something that wasn’t TOO cutesy. I found this set by Nursery Works and loved it… and after a bit of time it went on sale for 50% off so I decided to go for it.
I wanted a simple, classic, and decorative mobile to go over the crib. I thought it would be nice to be able to have something I could hang in my office later on, and this fit the bill to a T. It’s called the Bamboo Birds Mobile, is made of *gasp* bamboo, and is laser cut.
The dresser is from Ikea, and I covered some of the drawer fronts with seagress wallpaper.

Great nursery! Love the doxie light!
Also love Ikea’s Expedit- we have one in our nursery/office/craft room, I attached the desk to it and use it as my space with some baby drawers mixed in (with Target cloth drawers).

love it! when i see other people’s beautiful nurseries, i get so jealous! haha. since we’re probably moving out within 7 months, i’m not really working on our babies’ room. i haven’t set anything up because i haven’t purchased anything – wanted to wait until i had my shower, then purchase everything with the completion discount.

Love this! It’s so happy and calming at the same time. I love how something as simple as adding wallpaper to the drawer fronts of the Ikea dresser completely transformed the look. I’m a fan.
