Fall is just a few baby steps away and if you haven’t already started, you will be shopping for your little ones fall clothes soon. Mrs. Bee thought it would be fun (and I totally agreed) if I put together a few fall outfits for Charlie and Olive – easy, stylish outfits to wear to school, daycare, or relaxing in the stroller on a walk. So that’s just what I did – three outfits for each little one, filled with items that are comfy, easy to mix and match and that would fit well in any little one’s closet.
First I thought I’d share the outfits I styled for boys, since girls always get all the attention in the clothing department, it’s the boys turn this time.
A mix of purely casual items with a few preppy – makes for the perfect every day cool outfit.
No.1 – A fun graphic tee that will put a smile on even the adults’ faces. 77kids $14.85
No.2 – Skinny jeans, a staple. 77kids $14.85
No. 3 – A great hat is always nice to have on hand to hide epic bedhead. Furious Kingston $35
No.4 – A varsity jacket is a fun switch up from the cardigan. H&M $29.95
No. 5 – Sneakers that look like dress shoes – basically the best of both dressy and casual worlds. The Gap $24.95
I couldn’t decide on a pair of pants for this outfit. Both fit the bill of a comfortable, laid back, sweat pant – without the classic sweat pant look many of us moms aren’t fans of. Every boy needs a super comfy outfit (or 5) that he can let loose at the park wearing, or wear on a comfy sick day.
No. 1 – Stripes are always a great addition, since they can easily be paired with anything. The Gap $19.95
No. 2 – A comfy pant is always required: Jeans with the comfort of a sweat pant, Zara $29.90. Sweat pants with a hip retro look, The Gap $16.95.
No. 3 – A puffy vest is the perfect piece of fall outwear; it has air conditioned arms for when it’s not quite that cold out. H&M $24.95
No. 4 – A beanie in cotton, the look of a toque (yes, I’m Canadian) but cool like a cucumber. The Gap $14.95
No. 5 – The sneaker that goes with everything, and that he can put on himself. Converse $30.00
No. 6 – A great, goes with EVERYTHING hoodie. Great for layering under the vest. American Apparel $26.00
A small taste of colored denim, but just enough that everything else in his closet will match. For the little hipster to wear to school or daycare.
No. 1 – A plaid button down is a staple, open over a shirt or buttoned up – cannot go wrong. Zara $25.90
No. 2 – Colored skinny jeans – pick a color that fits well with the other clothes you buy so he can get a ton of wear. The Gap $29.95
No. 3 – Cardigan, but with elbow patches and a shawl collar – extra hip for everyday . The Gap $36.95
No. 4 – A striped baseball cap will match almost everything for those bad hair days. Old Navy $8.94
No. 5 – Basically a high top pair of Tiny Toms, a bit of extra warmth he can put on himself. Tiny Toms $36.00
No. 6 – Just the right size backpack in an array of colors to fit his personality. American Apparel $28.00
These are three outfits that are full of items that are easy to mix and match. I stuck with the same color palette so that each top (jacket or shoes) would mix with all bottoms. I try to do this when shopping for my own kids; that way each item will get worn a lot – or at least enough before their next growth spurt.
Which outfit is your favorite? Or maybe you have a specific item you love in one of the outfits? How cute would Charlie look in all three of these?!

i think cb’s wardrobe is a mix of the first and last outfits/styles (though i do love those sweatpants!). he’s very skinny and looks best in slim cut pants. and i love him in hipster-ish clothes! i can’t wait to get him back into fall clothes!

thanks for pulling these together! they’re perfect for a little boy. charlie has a similar varsity jacket and while i’ve dressed him more casual in the past, i do lean towards the hipster style… which is not mr. bee’s style at all!

Love that black&white striped sweater. I love scarves & cardies on little boys too, although the Mister would rather have DS in basketball shorts.
